How long after closing can I contact Member Services? The title company says 10 business days but that sounds TOO long?! We closed on Monday and the title company notified Disney that day.

i'd guess by tomorrow or friday, most likely.

i'd think they usually overestimate in case there are unexpected delays...

Hi - we booked 48 hours after closing. I suggest you give MS a call today. All the best. :cool1:

I gave in and called...we are not in the system yet. She is asked if it was resale and when I said yes she said it can take up to two weeks...but that I should try again on Sat or Sun. I thanked her and apologized for being so anxious but I had 2009 points that I wanted to use...and she said that with new members they could bank them, that they had more leeway with the new members and not to worry!!

Hey that's great, don't forget Monday was a National holiday so no mail moved on that day. Good luck and "Welcome Home" .

Our letter said 30 days, and it took 2 weeks, just to see the contracts. That was yesterday and the points weren't put in yet. I haven't checked today.

I hope you are talking about 2010 points. You are already well beyond the banking deadline for 2009 points. At this time you could still bank points from August, 2010 and later but nothing earlier than that could be banked. Any remaining 2009 points would have already expired.

You should still be able to use points from 2009 that had already been banked into 2010.

Good luck! :)

No, I am talking about 2009 points. I said I was anxious because they were going to expire, and she told me that as new members they have a lot of "leeway" and could bank them for us. But not to worry they don't expire until Sept. 30 so we should have time to use them in case they aren't able to do that. If they can, I would rather go in Nov. but I'm not letting them expire!

They must already be banked. So they couldn't be banked a second time.

To be painfully blunt, don't count on DVC making any exceptions for you as a resale buyer. They also don't make a habit of expediting the transfer of ownership on a resale. That's why you are being told up to 2 weeks. Buy direct and you could have made a reservation same day. Pick your poison. ;)

DVC actually modified the resort rules and regulations a couple years back to allow direct purchases to be banked after the normal deadline but that "perk" (for lack of a better word) is not extended to resale buyers.

Sounds like you are referring more to banking 2009 points a second time and that is not permitted for any owners. Assuming you bought an October Use Year and the 2009 points have been banked, you have until 9/30/11 to use them or they will be forfeit. As long as you aren't picky about dates and resorts, I'm sure you can find something over the next 6+ months.

Tim I agree...we are planning to use the 2009 points. The CM offered that they could bank them for us as new members...that they have lots of leeway for all their new members. I'm certainly not counting on it but the CM was really nice, and it was my first EVER experience talking to MS so I am hopeful that they are all this nice!

I did NOT ask, I just mentioned that we were anxious to use the points and she offered that banking option.

ARG!!! Called again today and the very helpful MS guy said he would transfer me to member administration so they could give me a timeline. Another nice CM gets on and I give him the contract number, and he transfers me to someone else who tells me they NEVER received the closing docs from the title company!! She said she would rush it when it comes in but I feel like we have gotten NOTHING but DELAYS!!

I just got off the phone with member services. I closed on February 17, and they still don't have me in the system. I really need to get my membership number as I closed on another contract on February 21 and I need both contracts to be under the same membership number!

.

Before this was changed, we couldn't bank 50 points that we bought direct from DVC in January and we have a March UY. We had been on a waiting list for the BWV points...since December, but still, they wouldn't make the banking exception. We donated the points to GTCTW, and we have remained supporters of that wonderful charity, but I just wanted to mention our direct purchase experience here.

Just an update...they found us in the system on Friday morning and we were able to book a trip in May using EXACTLY all of our 2009 points. Yeah!!

Have a great time and welcome home! Last May was my 1st trip home and it was great!
