I bought some shrimp Friday from the seafood dept. of our local grocery store. They were frozen in the case and I placed into my refrigerator. We had planned on eating them last night but didn't. Will they stay fresh until tomorrow? I was thinking I would use them for dinner but I'm worried they won't stay fresh enough. Can they be refrozen safely?

Also, anyone have any good shrimp recipes?

they should be okay in the fridge till tomorrow...we like to marinate them in garlic herb marinade for a few minutes..or toss them in bbq sauce and either stir fry them or grill them..

If they were thawed on Friday, then I would not eat them tomorrow. Seafood expires in about two days.

Same here ~ I just wouldn't risk it.

Q: I bought frozen ready to eat shrimp for shrimp cocktail and did not use it. It has thawed now. How long can I keep it in the fridge unopened or because it was never opened, can I refreeze it?
A: Shellfish if extremely perishable. Do not refreeze. Use within three days of thawing.

How long can my seafood be stored before cooking?
Fresh and thawed seafood can be stored for up to 2- 3 days in the refrigerator. Live lobster can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours after receiving. Clams can be kept for 48 hours.

Never, ever, refreeze anything that has been frozen and defrosted unless you cook it first and then refreeze it.

How were you planning on cooking that shrimp. Personally, I'd boil it up now for about 5 to 7 minutes and then finish the prep tomorrow depending on how you were going to make them.

if the shrimp was still frozen when you brought it home on friday....lets say that they started to unthaw by yesterday......I would say that you are safe to eat them tonight or tomorrow.......can you cook them right now and then fridge them for tomorrows feast?

If they were frozen when you bought them you should be fine to eat them tomorrow but I would not go past that. If they were completely thawed out by the time you came home I would cook them today.

We bought some frozen shrimp for New Year's Eve. On the directions for thawing it says to use within 3 days after thawing.
