We got engaged 8/20/06 and will be getting married 8/16/07, so just under one year. We've been dating since 1/99 and just celebrated our 8 year anniversary  We've been together since high school and have been planning on getting married for years, but wanted to wait until we were both done with school and working full-time.

We were engaged for 8 months. We got engaged May 4th, 2006 and married Jan 4, 2007. We planned to marry May 2007, but there was a timing issue with the liscencing process I have to go through so we bumped it up.

I always thought that I wanted a long engagement. I don't know why. I think I thought it was oh so romantic and we'd have strawberries and champage all the time. Heh. That didn't happen ;)

We dated for 4 years before we got engaged and actually married 5 years to the day we first met.

Hi girls

well I am just wondering how long some of you were engaged.. We are planning for a fall 2008 wedding.. That will be a little over 2 years being engaged.. I feel that it is sooooooo farrrr awaaaaaaaaaayyy. but I graduate college this June so at least it will give us time to save for a house.. Has anyone been engaged for two years or maybe more???

We started dating May 0f 2000 when we were in 10th grade and finally got engaged Christmas Day 2005. We are getting married March 12 2008.

We are having a long engagement too for the same reasons.

we were in our late 20's when we met, we dated 1 year and were engaged 1 year. So far so good.

Ok, I'm the old lady in the chat room, lol.
I graduated from high school in 1984. On my prom night my then boyfriend asked me to marry him. Don't be too impressed, he didn't want to do the whole dance thing, just wanted in my pants :rotfl2:
We go married exactly 1 year to the day from my graduation. 5-18-85.
Wow, it's almost 22 years and we're still together. Ha to everyone who said he'd never keep me that long, lol.
We had our honeymoon at Disney Campground. We stayed in a van!
We've been back so many times we can't count. When we check in at our resort, the CM always looks at us and then back at the screen because it's over 50 times that we've been there. We always laugh and respond we have no life outside of Disney. We live in Michigan but come to Disney about 6 times a year. We own our own business and work together every day and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Best of luck to all of you. I hope you marry your true love like I have.

Aw I love your story!

my story is much like tiggerific04's. My DH and I started dating in high school (2/99). we knew we would be getting married eventually, but wanted to finish school and to be able to pay for things. He proposed 12/23/05, and we were married 1/11/07, so just over a year's engagement. :goodvibes

Cute story!!!

But...I'll make you feel a little better...I also graduated high school in 1984.

But I didn't meet my true love until December 14, 2002. That was a very confusing day for me...we had already decided to meet and there was no way for me to get in touch with him that morning...meanwhile, I was at the vet saying a last goodbye to my beloved dog, Zeke. I spent our first meeting/date crying. But he was incredibly understanding...and I think that was when I knew there was something special about him.

We were engaged about a year later, Christmas Day 2003. And we were married on September 20, 2005 on our first (and only, so far) trip to WDW.

I've never been happier in my life than I have been the last 4 years or so...

We dated 3.5 years before getting engaged. Originally we were looking at a long engagement, but decided we couldn't wait to become Mr. and Mrs. We got engaged two months ago on our first ever trip to WDW and will get married this May, which is an engagement period of just over five months. A DFTW makes it possible, although we didn't confirm a date until last month.

It's our first marriage and I know very little about wedding planning. I actually thought four months was enough planning time until we found out how long it takes to order dresses. :confused3 I think everything will work out, but it'll go down to the final days. I've started looking at backup plans in case some of the pieces (like bridesmaid dresses) don't arrive in time.

I'm going to be engaged for almost two years (together for 3). We're planning an October 2008 wedding as I really want to pay cash for our wedding, get out of some debt, and save up for a downpayment on a house as I don't want to have to live with either of our parents afterwards and I don't want to rent. I figure it'll all be worth it when it finally gets here! Also, I think that knowing I will get to spend 50+ years with this man (God willing) makes waiting a little easier. I know I'll treasure this short and exciting time of being engaged looking back.

we have been together seven years when DF proposed on our anniversary and we are aiming for an october 2008 wedding so it will be 2 years and 1 month when we get married

We have been together 7.5 years and I was 18 when we got together. We have been engaged twice, 1st time was in 2002 and the second time was 2006. We had a temporary split (2 months) early 2006, it was a horrible year for us. We got back together and are now happier than ever and planning our wedding, in fact we are getting married on our anniversary:goodvibes
I got two seperate engagement rings from the two engagements:lmao:
We initially decided on a long engagement 1st time around which I liked the sound of, but long went to really long with no end in sight. So this time we got engaged in August 06 and are getting married in August 07.

dating for 3 years, and we will be engaged just about 6 months by the time our wedding comes around end of April :cloud9:

I could have wrote this story myself-- no kidding. We had two engagements, a short seperation (3 months) and then another engagement... 2 seperate rings.... Summer, are you my twin?

LOL, it was actually closer to 3 months for me too. It's strange that we both have very similar situations, not a great time for me or my DF, but we got through it and are stronger as a result. Obviously you 2 are too, you have had the Wedding of your dreams and are blissfully happy, it shows you can get through even the hardest of times.

...not only were we engaged within the 1-6 months we were married in the 1-6 months of meeting eachother, to be exact we met on Memorial day weekend and were Married on Labor Day weekend (no it was not shot gun! LOL) But we eloped to Kaui and had a very romantic and intimate wedding, That first year was a killer and of course there have been other difficult times, moving, jobs etc. But we are celebrating our 10 yr Anniversary this Sept. On our first Disney Cruise, with our beautiful 5 yr old daughter! When it is right, it's right! And Marriage takes 3 in my oppinion... You, Your Hubby and the Grace of God! :) Good Luck and Congrats to all the future Briddes!
