How long is the walk from mk parking lots to front gates? I know about shuttle but what if I wanted to walk?

You can't walk from the parking lot to the front gate. You can walk from the parking lot to the TTC (transportation and ticket center). How long this will take will depend in how early you get there. (The earlier the better) once you get to the TTC you will have to board a monorail or ferry boat to travel accross the seven seas lagoon to the Magic Kingdom.

Well, you can't actually walk to the front gates; you have to go to the TTC and take the boat or the ferry from there.

As far as walking from your car to the TTC goes, it really just depends on where you park.

I've only parked in the lot once or twice, but think they have trams that will take you to the TTC, so it's really only necessary to walk from your car to a tram stop.

You take a tram to the TTC and then take a monorail or ferry to the front gates. You can walk to the TTC instead of taking the tram, the thing with that is that the lot is very big,if you're parked up close to the TTC then it's worth walking, but if you're way back by the racetrack I think the tram is the fastest easiest option. It all depends on where you park.Epcot for example offers a tram but the way the way the lot is setup I find it easier to walk.

Like others have said if you park in the lot then you'll have to take a ferry or monorail from the Ticket & Transportation Center (TTC) to the front gates. If you get there for rope drop, the walk from the parking lot to the TTC is only a few minutes. If you get there later in the day then the walk will be much, much longer. The parking lot is huge & divided into 2 sections. There are parking trams that will take you to the TTC if you don't want to walk. It's usually about 10 or so minutes on the tram to the TTC and involves much less walking.

Did that once because we were finishing at EPCOT and wanted our car there.

You park at EPCOT, either ride the tram or walk to the EPCOT front entrance. You will have to go through security bag check. Then you ramp up to the monorail platform and wait for a train. It took us to the TTC where we had to get off and switch to another monorail or go down the ramp and get on the ferry boat. Then we had to do security bag check again.

Save time on average trip - absolutely not. Probably at least double the time it would have taken to just go to MK parking direct.

Hypothetically would it be easier to park at Epcot and take the monorail?
No, unless you want to go back to Epcot later in the day. The monorail line for Epcot is separate, so when you arrive at the TTC you will have to transfer to the MK monorail. It would take much more time.
