Just me and DD10 - beginning of August. We have never been to US (doing IOA another day). Just wondering if we can see/do it all and go to the 6pm Blue Man show. We both love thrill rides. We will be there before park opening. Thanks!!

Do you plan on going on any rides or are you just gonna walk around?

We manage to see pretty much everything we want to at the studios in one day and we love the park. We get there at rope drop and hit the popular rides first thing. Most days you'll notice a constant stream of people arriving around 10:30 or 11:00 so you can often get a lot done before that.

We ride the Mummy's Revenge, the Simpsons and MIB first. Shrek tends to back up so that's another good one to get to early. We skip Jimmy Neutron and Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit (sp) and try to work in Jaws early too but by then it can be crowded. You like thrill rides so you might want to go to Rip Ride Rockit first. Disaster is an odd one by the way. I've seen it with 15 minute lines and 60 minute lines at all different times and I can't figure out a pattern. We reserve Terminator and the Gruesome & Gory Horror Make-up Show for afternoon when it's crowded.

I hope that you enjoy!

cv1990 - yes, we want to do all the rides. None of the shows really stick out as must-do's to me.

planogirl - thanks for the advice! Do you think we can do all the rides by 4 or 5 pm or do we really need to plan to be there until closing?

Thanks!!!

It'll depend on how crowded the park gets. We went during early August and were done by about 5. Keep in mind that we did skip some attractions but we did slow down to have a nice lunch too.

You said none of the shows? You might want to rethink the Make-up show if you have time. It's very popular here. Also, Terminator and Shrek are shows in a way but include effects and 3-d and all of that. Terminator is a wonderful place to rest and cool off in the afternoon and can hold tons of people.

I would say you can. I saw you said you're not crazy about a lot of shows but I have to suggest the Horror Make Up show. If the crowd participates this show is reallygood! Even when they dont as much its still fun. Blues brothers can also be pretty good but I usuallyd ont stick around for more than 5-10 minutes.

Are you staying on site? This makes a lot of difference!

Either way ride RRR first if your daughter can ride. Then I make my way around towards twister and disaster. If you aren't staying on park do like someone else said and head to MIB, Simpsons, and Mummy first. Jaws to me is weird because I've seen it with a 5 minute line and the Express pass longer than the regular and seen it with a 60 minute wait. Same time of year around same time of day. Boggles me. Guess it depends how many locals are there.

Anyways if you get there at opening you should be able to get out by 5 IMO and be able to go relax or change before the show at 6. But thats just if you don't pay attention to details.

no no no no no no no............

horror make up show is a must..........!

take advantage of single rider - RRR, Mummy and MIB all have one. I find that helps me fly through the lines and use my time to wait for Shrek, Simpsons, and Jaws. You should have no problem finishing by 6, especially if you're there at Rope Drop.

Beetlejuice and Horror Make Up are must dos for us... but we typically skip Twister, Disaster, and Terminator. Also recommend the Blue Brothers!

Well we went in November but we were able to ride all the rides (some of them more than once) and do a couple of the shows by 1pm. I would think even with an increase in crowds you would be able to get all the rides in by closing time.

And like PPs I also highly recommend the Horror makeup show. It was the best show we saw while at Universal (both parks)

I'm also a huge fan of Horror Make-Up. I've seen it way too many times but I still absolutely love it. :)

Yep totally agree.

We only saw it for the first time last year, not quite sure how we missed it on previous years, but it`s not to be missed :thumbsup2

A little late in replying here but just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the great advice. We will definitely do the make-up show!
