How long to join the Castaway Club

Hi

we went on our first Disney Cruise at the end of August (7 days Mediterranean on the Disney Magic... we loved it!), and I was wondering how long it took for you to be invited in to the Castaway Club. I was also wondering if the fact we booked two cabins (therefor having two bookings) would count as two cruises?

Thanks

Mike

You are automatically made a member after your first cruise. They used to sporadically send out mailers but don't anymore. You can contact DCL for your Castaway Club member number. I think you can find it somewhere on the site as well but don't recall where.

You only get credit by the number of actual cruises. Each person in each Cabin gets credit for a single cruise.

As of the end of your first cruise , you are a CC member and will be assigned a CC number . Each person that sailed in your cabin will get their own CC number.
CC is based on sailings..not cabins. So no, it would count as one sailing with 2 cabins.

Thanks for the info... it was worth hoping that I might get marked as booking two cruises since I'd essentially paid for two! Never mind.

I'll get in contact with Disney as we're hoping to be fairly regular

This number is the one to call for CC information (800) 449-3380

Unforunately it doesn't go by how much you spend on a cruise or even days on a cruise, but on how many sailings you take.
For example, someone that books a 7 night Conceirge cabin is going to get the same CC credit as someone who books 2 Oceanview cabins for one sail date for 4 nights. Or a 14 night TA cruise gets the same CC "points" as someone that books a 3 night cruise to the Bahamas.

If you kept your keycard, you were already assigned a castaway number and it's on that card. :)

There's a way to join online.

Just like with frequent flier miles, it doesn't matter who paid, but who traveled. The other people in the rooms you paid for also have castaway numbers assigned and should join as well.

We did our first cruise 8/8-8/15 this year. We got our Castaway Club letter, card with all the numbers on it, and a 'Castaway Club Silver Member' car magnet on 9/9/16, so about a month later!

You can also see your Castaway Club info if you go onto the Disney Cruise website, login, click on Castaway Club, and it'll bring up how many cruises you've taken, etc. If you booked a placeholder onboard, you can see the reservation number under 'my cruises', 'upcoming cruises'. Since I manage the family on My Disney Experience, I found the rest of the family's castaway club numbers on the disney cruise website under 'my profile', 'membership and passes'.

Fwiw not everyone gets a membership card. We didn't. Consider yourself lucky. Though you'll never need that card unless they change something.

I had read that after our cruise, and was pleasantly surprised to actually get something in the mail!

We did our first cruise in 2008 and never got anything at all after. When we booked our second in 2012, I emailed to get our numbers.

We took our first cruise in 2008 and got a nice envelope with cards for both of us and a CD. It's not really necessary to have your numbers, but you can also get them from the DCL website (click on the "Castaway Club" link). It's also on your KTTW card from the very first cruise (that's when they assign the numbers).

Did our first sailing in 2000. When we booked for our second in 2005 our TA just told them that it was our second and they pulled up our record with the number. Never got a card or anything. I have the number recorded but if I didn't I'd just log in and pull it up. My TA has the number too so she gives it to them when we book each time. If you book yourself through the site, it will automatically book against it.

This is true! I held off on booking my parents' room for a couple of days while they found both of their numbers, but in the end I didn't need them. As soon as I put in my dad's name and DOB, his CC number popped right up. Ditto my mom's.

So if you don't have it, PLEASE don't stress it!! As long as your name is the same and your DOB is the same, you're fine! :)

(If there has been a name change, you might have to call them for help finding it. And if you KNOW there will be a name change, get your number and be ready to give them a call when the name change happens.)
