How long to get to Parks?

We're leaving this weekend!!! I'm so excited! We're staying at a FW cabin w/my parents & bro/sil. How long will it take us to get to each park from FW when we ride Disney's buses? Anyone been recently that remembers? It seems like FW is kinda far away. We're traveling w/a 2 year old and a 9 month old. I'm wondering if going back and forth for meals is really going to be worth it. (I mean, 30 minutes in a bus with a tired 2 year old does NOT sound fun!!)

Transportation to and from FW takes about the same amount of time as most other resorts. The only real difference is that once you get to FW you will transfer to an internal bus(purple for cabins I think) that will take you too your cabin loop. Some people find this confusing, but I think once you do it it is easy and makes your walk from bus to cabin fairly short. Do keep in mind the FW has 2 main bus stops, Settlement(by Pioneer Hall and boat dock) and Outpost(near check inn) which park you want will determine which bus stop. There is no direct bus from FW to MK, for that you take the boat.

I think you are looking at 30 minutes MINIMUM. By the time you count the inter-campground busses and time waiting, it might be closer to an hour. Not time well spent with a grumpy child. Do a google search for "Disney Transportation Wizard." There are several sites where you can click your resort (Ft. Wildnerness) and your park destination, and the wizard will give you your estimated travel time, and mode of transportation (bus, monorail, boat, etc.) Keep in mind that the wizards don't count the time you spend waiting for the bus, and during peak times you might have to wait for the 2nd or 3rd bus before you finally get on one.

When we used to stay at other Disney resorts, we took the busses, because it was a 15 minute walk to the car, but when staying at Ft. Wildnerness, we always take our own car to the parks, because we are parked right next to our "room." Within 15-20 minutes you'll be inside the gate of any park, and you'll be much more comfortable.

Hopefully your little ones will love the bus ride as much as ours did. I think the sheer novelty of not being in a carseat kept her entertained. Some days we would ride our bikes to the Settlement and then just ride the bus a while.

It still doesn't take too much to keep her entertained. Give her a roll of tape, a stapler. and a pack of copy paper and she's busy for hours.

I know when my dd was that young i did the disney bus one trip but never after that.I found i liked my van a whole lot better.We also use to take my dd on the internal busses back in the good ole day's just to entertain her...She would see the bus come by and she would say"Walt Disney world" I'm getting all misty eyed now.......My baby is 9 now,To answer your question about coming back to eat.That's a tough call seeing how the parks close early.Only the parent's know for sure how there own will react .......Play that one by ear...because if the kid's arenot happy you will not be happy!Have Fun!

Our grandson, now 3 has always loved the Disney buses as much as anything else there. For us, a ride back to camp, splash some water on our faces, a quick bite(nuke some left overs), put our feet up for a few minutes.......... makes the rest of the day a whole lot nicer!!! If you are worried about missing out on park time, try to visit a park with extended magic hours if there is one that evening

Check out this site. I found it either on one of the DISboards or another Disney board. Not sure where at this point, but it will help you figure out how long it takes to get from here to there, or there to here, or anywhere in the "world." Pretty cool actually.
