I was wondering how much time to figure on the kids decorating masks at the Kidcot stations during our visit. I would just like to have a guess-timate of what amount of time to allot. Also, I thought I had read that the Kidcot stations open later than the 11 opening of WS, but was wondering if that was true. Are the stations easy to find? Last time we were at WS was during the Food and Wine festival, and I never saw a single Kidcot station. Hope someone can set me straight!!

We just were there earlier this month. We had four kids in our party doing the masks. I estimate it took over 2 hours to do it. We let the kids color the masks while they waited for all to get done. We also had the passports that were stamped, also. I think it also depends how crowded it is and how fast you want to get it done. It was fairly quiet the morning/afternoon we did them.

As long as it takes you to do world showcase. It could take a couple of hours to all afternoon and evening depending on what you do while touring the countries. They are a great free souvenior. It took our kids one afternoon and evening but we stopped to smell all the roses. Remember the first stop is where they decorate their maskes and does take a little longer. We walked back to France to begin our tour. Hope you have a fun trip.

Last year the stations were opening at 1:00, but WS was opening at 12:00. My DD and I took one afternoon to specifically do the masks. We started at 1:00 and it took us just over 2 hours in March with moderate crowds. We also took a picture of her with a hat from each country as well as a CM. Our time was devoted only to this.

Have fun!

I think it depends on how detailed your child is. DS was 9 when we did the kidcot stations. He HAD to add some type of art work to his mask in each country we visited. It would have gone faster if he'd just colored the mask at the first stop and then got a stamp for the handle in the other countries.

To make things worst he was working on 3 masks. One for him, and one of each his cousins.

He had a blast doing them, but it did take a bunch of time.

Here's what we did ... I allowed DS to color small portions of his mask, reminding him that we had more countries to visit and he had to leave room on his mask to color at other countries!

If there was a line, I would stand in line waiting while DS worked on coloring his mask. If there was no line, I'd let DS color a small section of his mask.

There were cool metallic markers in Italy and those were a blast! They had dotters in another country and those were fun, too! I think the key is to let them know there are more exciting countries to color at!

Since the Kidcot stations seem to begin around 1 o'clock, than I'd better tweek my schedule a bit to allow time enough time for my kids to enjoy this. I was hoping to start on them at when WS opened.

I really like the hat idea, slp87....I think that is a really fun thing to do too. Kind of like a little photo journey :).

Can anyone tell me how easy these stations are to find? I mean, are they located inside a gift shop or restaurant or the main attraction of the country itself?

There is usually a sign next to the table where the stations are set up. If you don't see it, the CMs can direct you to them. Most are outside unless the weather is bad or too hot, then they move them indoors. For our "photo journey" next year, I'm taking a picture of my DD with a little flag from each country.

Thanks for the information, slp87! I like your flag idea too :). We will be at WDW during the holidays, so I hope to incorporate the "Santas" from each world in our trip around WS also. I'm a scrapbooker and always looking for a good page idea!

Great info from everyone....maybe my daughter can wear a hat & wave a flag? lol....can't wait to do this.....hey, daxx, we are neighbors!!

We did Kidcot this past Wednesday- began at 11AM in UK. All seemed to open at that time. The masks and passports made for a great experience for the kids this trip.

The Santa idea is so great!!! I'm a scrapbooker too. If they open at 11:00 that will make it so much better. We were always trekking through WS at the hottest part of the day!

Have a great trip!

:D Could someone please explain the masks in a little more detail? is it one mask that you add onto at each station or do you make a new mask at each station???? we will be there in early sept...:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

It's one mask and each country adds a symbol. This is attached by fishing line to the side of the mask. The country also stamps the stick which holds the mask. The kids decorate the mask as they like. We were told to start decorating at the first station but to leave some to do at later stations.

So it's a mask on a stick to hold up to your face.

Is the mask free or do you have to buy it? If so, what is the cost? Where do you pick up the mask so that you can start it?

We did the Kidcot masks this past Thursday and the tables opened at 11AM . Most were in gift shops ... just ask any cast member as you enter the country and they will tell you where they are located.

Here's a little tip ... we started asking cast members how to say our dd's names in their native language and asked them to write it on the back of the masks. My kids got a kick out of hearing their names pronounced differently. We started this because it was my daughter's birthday and many of the CM's wrote Happy Birthday to her on the back in their native language as well. Lots of fun !

It took us roughly 4 hours to complete the masks including a sit down lunch stop in the UK at Rose and Crown. We really took our time and enjoyed going inside to get out of the sun for a bit ... not to mention shop !

netnurse31 - The mask is free. You can pick them up at any Kidcot station in any country and start there. As you work your way around to all the countries, you just add to the mask.

I'm still a little confused on the beginning times here....some say the Kidcot stations begin at 11, others say they begin at 1. Do you suppose they stagger the time depending on the season? I'm just wondering if the Kidcot stations won't begin until 1 when we go, since we are traveling in early December, a relatively quiet time. Any support for this theory?

And, yes, Aunt Minnie, the Kidcot stations are open during the FWF. We were there early last November and saw several children carrying them!
