How long should cake last?

I made some chocolate cake last Tuesday and never got it in the fridge. I'ts almost unbelievable, but I have some left! So is it still OK to eat? How do I know when it has gone bad?

If you don't live in a warm and/or humid area, it will last quite a while. You will notice a funny taste when it starts to go bad.

We just keep eating ours until it becomes too stale. I think we've had cakes last almost two weeks. I say eat away
