We have a trip booked for Sept with free dining. Well I've been doing some fancy budgeting and am thinking of adding on two weeks at FW. Now the only reason we can do this is because I'm on mat leave and DH will be on parental leave, other than that we would never have a month off. So now DH is concerned that a month is just too long. The kids love the idea but what kid wouldn't;) . We homeschool so we'll be working through the summer a little more diligently.
He thinks we should plan an Oct/Nov trip. My thought is if we only drive down and back once that's $750 that I don't have to spend by just staying there.
Has anyone spent that much time at WDW before...so far from home?

I just wanted to say that I think it's lovely. Gave me a great daydream. :lmao: Have fun no matter what you decide.

Well, would this month include the travel time there and back? Does this mean you would actually only be there for 3 weeks or so? The longest I have ever been at WDW is 14 days and I felt that was long enough. However, I guess if I was there for an extra week I would not do commando mode and I would spend more time at the pool and some time exploring other resorts (something that I have never done). Let us know what you decide. :goodvibes

Oh me too, me too!! :cool1: :worship: :worship:

One month may be a little long, but I'm sure if I REALLY REALLY TRIED MY BEST I might be able to get used to it. :confused3 JUST MAYBE :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Oh heck ya, I might miss my friends and other family but knowing they would be there I would get over it. :yay:

Like a PP said, if you were there for a month, it would be a very relaxing trip not having to go comando, and taking time to do waterparks, other resorts, hang out by the pool and just relax on the off days.

I would like to go for two weeks to do a more relaxing trip. My DS and I went for 10 days and pretty much did commando for 10 days and feel like we did not have enough time.

SO I SAY YOU GOT THE TIME, GO FOR IT!!!!!!:dance3: :dance3:

THe longest time I have spent in WDW was three weeks. We didn't spend the entire time there though, we did explore other theme parks, visited the beaches, did some shopping etc. I found that it was super and we would definalty do it again if we could!

We spent 14 days last Sept. We found that there was still stuff that we didn't get to do. But we were very relaxed. We would go to a park in the morning and back to our room in the afternoon to swim and some nights we would just stay "home" and other nights we would go back to a park for awhile. We also took a day to explore the campground.

I think it would be nice while camping to see a little more of Florida. This is our fifth trip and I still have not seen the ocean.

With the little ones in tow we can take our time and not feel like we have to rush.

Dh has offered to get a hold of the airline and see if we can extend our Pop century stay by a couple days so now I just have to work on the FW:rolleyes1 part and we'll be all set.pixiedust:

Congrats!! Hope it works out for you. And congrats on the new addition to the family.

Have a great time.

Hi just a thought but if you're driving, why not 3 weeks free dine on 2 ressies and then a week on the ocean? Or 25 days etc and a few days on the ocean? Just a thought! Have fun!

We have done two trips that were a month (or within a day or two of being a month) but on those trips we also did a disney cruise. I would do it again in a heart beat. We left feeling like we were ready to come home but the day before we would not have been ready to go. I say it is a once in a lifetime deal and go for it!!

How many times will you get this chance for time together, with your dh being off etc...Kids grow up, circumstances change and time marches on so I would grab this chance at family togetherness ... I also think your idea makes so much more sense than travelling twice, have a blast!

I have no opinon however any Mom that wants to take her seven homeschooled children to WDW etc for a month deserves a mother of the year award. I envy you for having so much energy and patience.:thumbsup2 Congrats on your new addition, you are going to be one lucky Grandma some day too! Have a wonderul relaxing holiday!

For me, it's a life is too short thing! We decided to go back in September after a late Feb/March trip this year because life slapped us in the face with a reminder that we don't always get second chances. I'd do it if I had the opportunity, that's for sure!

We spent 3 weeks at WDW the end of August last year and would have loved to
been able to stay another week. We never left the "World" and the first week we never even hit a park. We did the new Segway tour at FW, went parasailing, horseback riding, visited different resorts, mini golf, shopping, golfing, DVC, etc. There is so much to do we never get bored. We could spend even more time there than a month. Whatever you decide just go and enjoy!!

Hello, we went to WDW for 19 nights last Aug/Sept. at the end of my mat leave - it was a wonderful way to end the year and get ready to return to work...we moved 3 times - 6 nights of Free Dining at All star sports, 4 nights at the Poly (40% off code :cool1: ) and 9 nights at BWV - it really wasn't a big deal to move (we had our van but bell services is great at moving things too) we drove down so we took our time and stopped off at a few spots along the way and meandered home visiting relatives in Michigan - we were away for a total of 30 nights.

Being in WDW all those days we still did not see everything just took our time to really enjoy what the resorts had to offer, rented boats, did some outlet and DTD shopping and lots of people watching - never stood in line longer than 15 minutes for any ride/attraction (if the line was longer we just moved on)...while our little guy is not school age we are really taking advantage of longer vacations in slower periods - we loved last year so much that we are going again this year for 12 nights at BWV and 6 nights at POP (free dining!), driving and touring...the sacrifice is that i get no time off during the summer but i'm coping fine with disney planning to keep me busy until our next trip:cheer2:
