How long is too long?

We always go for at least 19 nights. We fly in from the UK and it takes a little while to adjust to the heat/time. We love it when we have been there 5 nights and still have two weeks left. It also means that we can do a couple of resorts. Last year we changed resorts 4 times! That was a bit much, but it made the holiday seem longer.

Although it will never happen, I could see being at WDW for 3 weeks at a time. You can always dream...right!!

You dvc'ers are so lucky to have kitchen facilities, especially the full kitchen facilities of a one-bedroom and above. I just got back from a four-night stay in the World and found myself totally demoralized by eating out all the time. Some of the meals were excellent.. Boma, yum... some were very good-- a good many were pretty terrible (75% of the counter service) but even when you like where you eat you tend to overpay and overeat. I know we budget for the high prices, but still. I'd find myself on the bus, dreaming that I was returning to a dvc one bedroom, so I could make my family a lovely, low-key meal-- maybe chicken burritos, a little rice on the the side. I know there are a good many of you who would never cook on a vacation but I think the occasional home-cooked meal would go a long way in making everyone feel rooted and comfortable. And to veer back on-topic --with a well-stocked kitchen, 10 days isn't long at all.;)

just relax and take it easy. We won't eat out all the time.

Do you agree? Is there a point when you've had enough for one visit? Or would you stay 3 weeks if you could?

This past October, we stayed for 9 days and it was great! We have a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old. Personally I wouldn't want to be on vacation anywhere for 3 weeks(not even my favorite WDW), but 9 days was great. 5 days too short, I like 7-10 day visits...although we usually are in the 7 days range.

My ideal trip length is 9-10 nights. I do not like a trip of less than a week and the longest trip I have ever taken to WDW was 16 nights and that was too long for me. I was shocked, I thought I would never have a trip that was too long at WDW but 16 nights was a little too much for me, by the 14th night I was more than ready for my own home.

Our first couple stays were 14 nights. That was perfect, but we don't want to take the kids out of school for that long anymore now that they are a bit older. The last time we went for a long weekend (5 nights) and it just wasn't enough, we decided not to do that again. We have decided that 9 nights is our minimum from now on, this would be a Friday night to the following Sunday night so the kids only have to take 5 days off of school. By the way, the kids are 5 and 6.

We usually stay 2 weeks.

One year we went for 17 days. On the day we flew down the HMO I work for went into receivership, and I didn't know if I would have a job to come back to, Delta lost my luggage for four days, and I came down with the flu for five days.

That trip was way too long!:(

This past summer we stayed for the first time in a DVC unit for 10 nights/11 days. It was wonderful! I could have easily stayed a full two weeks, maybe more. However, coming back to work was a nightmare. Plus, I don't have anyone to cover for me while I'm gone and I felt guilty for being away for so long so I gave my secretary information on where I'd be in the event someone had an emergency. Guess what? I had faxes and phone calls every day at the resort. Their idea and my idea of what consititutes an emergency was not the same. (Mine: impending loss of life, limb or serious money. Theirs: anything they want my opinion on with a deadline.)
Previous to this stay we always did 7 nights/8 days and always wanted more time. While I think three weeks would make for an excellent, relaxing vacation its just not possible. So back we go this summer for 7 nights...and I'm not letting anyone at work know how to get hold of me. They'll live for a week.

Our trips have ranged from 7 nights to 14 nights & not once have I said I'm ready to go home. This upcoming trip in April will be for 15 nights. I would love to make it even longer.

The only bad part of my trips are having to pack up to leave. It is just so depressing. :(

I've stayed 9 days at OKW and it was lovely. Lots of time to relax by the pool, do the parks and not get bored. No more commando or as I like to refer to it "Do Disney in a Day or Die" mode. Yoy know start at the crack of dawn and squeeze in as many things as possible before you collapse!
Tell DH that 9 days may not be long enough!:smooth:
