I have never been to WDW, this will be our 1st trip, so I am learning so much info from all you experts!! So, who can tell me how long the safari ride lasts at AK?? We plan to go on Monday for EE at 8:00 a.m., and we were going to do the safari first thing b/c we hear that it a good time to go. But, we have PS for breakfast at Rain Forest Cafe for 9:00 a.m. Will we have time to do the safari before our PS for breakfast???

Thanks!

I was there in January and as I recall they didn't open the safari ride at 8 am. I think they opened it up at like 8:20 or 8:30. I would check to see if it's one of the rides that is open early.

I don't remember how long it was maybe 10-15 minutes. It seemed like long ride.

Have fun on your trip wish i was going with you.

The safari ride takes about15-20 minutes, depending on what all you come across. If you head straight to the ride as soon as the park opens and don't sightsee on the way you should have no problem making breakfast. We have never waited more then 5-10 minutes when we went there first. Be prepared to walk a pretty brisk walk, almost everyone heads to the safari.

On EE days, the character "Adventure Begins" truck basically leads all of the guests straight to the Safari...and yes, the Safari is open at 8am on EE days.

It's a "two-week" Safari!!! (...that's SO much fun, it feels like it flew by in about 20 minutes ;) )

The length really depends on what animals decide to get in your way! With no stops you could be done in 15 minutes but put one critter in the way and you just never know how long you may be there!

We found going at different times of the day let you see different animals in different places. Our best safari was late afternoon in the rain. We were the last vehicle to go out and the animals were active to say the least!

We got stopped by an ostrich , when the cheetah decided to spook the rhinos who were playing in the red mud and rain. The rhinos then decided to repeatedly charge our vehicle, which could not move due to the ostrich. Everyone was screaming and getting very panicked. It was very exciting and I can tell you I could have reached out and touched the rhino. He and I were eye to eye! It was a mind blowing experience!

Our driver called for help and an employee vehicle got between us and the rhino. The crazy bird finally moved and we continued our two week safari!

So, it might be best to just go after our breakfast then? In case some animals get in our way and we get stuck for a longer time! What would be the wait time if we wait and go after our breakfast, around 9:30 or 10:00 a.m., and would the animals still be out at that time?

Thanks for all your input!! :D

Also remember that the Safari is at the back of the park. If the gates open at 8:00 and you are not first in line it will take 1-4 minutes to get in the gate. Even walking fast, with the crowd that is heading over there it will take 5-7 minutes to get there and get through the queu. So you are looking at getting on the ride at th eearliest at 8:10-8:15 and maybe at 8:20 or so. Take in the ride and then you have to walk back to the Rainforest Cafe which is back at the front gates you entered earlier.

There are animals out and about all the time at this attraction - I have ridden it enough to realise there is no best time to see all the animals as they are active at different times of the day etc.

The wait time will vary based on time of year - I would hazard a guess not knowing your exact time of year that 30 minutes or so would be the standard wait time at that time of the morning

You can always get a fastpass and then experience the Pangani Forest Trail ride or take in Flights of Wonder show and then come back for your FP window

Personally I would arrive at the AK gate ntrance about 0740, be at or near the front for the EMH entrance, go up to KS, ride and then walk back (you will be fighting the tide to some extent) down to the RFC

Either way will work out

Good Luck!

BTW, TWENDE means Let's Go in Swahili
