How long is good enough for a vacation in the LA area? Like going to Disneyland, CA Adventure, Universal Studios, theme parks, Santa Monica, Hollywood, beaches, Venice, Beverly Hills, malls, and everthing else, etc.. My parents and I were there last month for 5 days, but the plane arrival and departure days didn't count. So it was 3 full days of vacation. We had 2 days at the Disneyland Resort and 1 day around LA. 3 days of vacation didn't work and it was way too short for a vacation.

You can get a lot done in five full days, not counting Disney. But I don't fool around with other theme parks. There's too much more to life.

I would agree with shelemm. While there are other historic parks, like Knotts Berry Farm, there is so much to do here. I would almost give LA 7 - 10 days with downtime included.

There are amazing museums, great hikes, excellent REAL studio tours like Warner Brothers - a very small guided tour of 12 people in a large golf cart (do this during the fall and before spring break to actually see filming on your tour), and quirky things you would never expect like the Ackerman SciFi Museum (in his home).

There are concerts at the Hollywood Bowl, the Pacific Design Center - the west coast home to all things design, and pretty much things for any taste. Don't forget Rodeo, Melrose, Sunset and Santa Monica Blvd shopping!

I'm not a big antique car aficionado (I like them, but not raised in a car family) and I really found the Peterson Car Museum fascinating and very well done.

See what I mean. All that and time to go to the beach and go shopping, too!
