We have the early seating. Can you give me a time frame for dinner and into the show? How long does it last?
Do we have time to go back to our room? Too much time that my kids may get sleepy?

Thanks

How long do you want it to be?

If you want your kids served quickly so you can take them to the OC (main seating) or for Dine and Plan (late seating) let your servers know. A normal adult dinner takes about 90 minutes. If you want it faster than that, tell your servers. You can linger over coffee and dessert as long as you'd like, or you can get out rather quickly.

Your servers will try to meet your desires if you inform them of those desires.

I agree.. Although you really can't mingle too long with early seating. If you like to mingle, I would suggest late seating where they aren't hurrying to set up for the next seating.

How long is dinner?? It is always TOO long! I'm not kidding! There is a lot of waiting between courses. After an hour we all get antsy.

Each cruise we speak with our waiter and ask to move things along quickly. And then the head waiter a day or two later. Doesn't work, seems like that there is a set pattern to bringing out each tables courses regardless of which table is finished and which is lingering..... yep, this would probably be my only complaint about cruising.

By the way .... we make it a point to be there when the dining room doors open .. ALL of us ... we've read and discussed the menu ahead of time and know exactly what each is ordering .... and our family is at a table by ourselves.

Those of us who drink a lot at dinner have learned to order "two" iced tea or "two" iced water or "two" milk at the start due to the lag time getting refills and that works nicely.

Some years, our waiters are seasoned pros and work with us to get us in and out quickly but most of the time our request to "speed it up" throws a monkey wrench in their order, increases their stress level and we sit and wait and wait between courses. That's why I say dinner takes "too long"
