How long is a vow renewal?

Does anyone know how long a standard intimate vow renewal takes? I was thinking of the logistics of doing the ceremony, cake cutting, pictures afterward, and then travelling to dinner. We're planning our VR at SBP and then I was hoping to have dinner at the Grand Floridian around 7:30 or 8PM. So which would be a better time for the ceremony: 2:30 or 5PM? The way they are spacing it out seems like the ceremony/cake cutting takes about 2 hours, but I can't figure out what is involved in all that time if there is no religious service. Isn't it just walking down the aisle, saying vows, coming back, and then cutting the cake and drinking champagne? To me it sounds like it would take about 30-45 minutes. Am I wrong about the timing? Also, is the Grand Floridian very far away from Sea Breeze Point? What time would you recommend in order to make it to GF for dinner safely?

Thanks,
Jil

the intimate wedding ceremony (VWs are pretty much the same but with different wording) last about 15-20 minutes. add about an hour or an hour and a half to that for cake cutting reception and photos, and it comes to around 2 hours. some people (including me) like to hang around a bit after to take more photos/make the day seem longer etc. if you just want to do the VW and cake cutting and arent worried about elongating things, you could do a 5pm ceremony, then get the limo to drop you at the GF. if you want to take more time with things, i'd go for the 2.30.
i had my wedding at 2pm, ADRs for chef mickeys at 5.30ish, then fireworks cruise at 8ish. to be honest we were thinking of ways to pass time a bit, but didnt want to be too rushed by having a later ceremony.
hope that helps

I think the part that adds unexpected time is the photos. OP, you're right that the vows themself happen very quickly and the cake cutting and toasting isn't very time-consuming. For us, it was the mountains of formal pics we did afterward (DH's family + us, my family + us, just my dad and us, just my dad and I etc. etc.). If you skip that bit, you should have no trouble getting to GF for dinner if you do a 5 pm wedding. You also don't want to end up with too much time on your hands, you know?

Our wedding is at noon and we were at our downtown disney restaurnt by 2:45 or so (and that's because we did extra EXTRA formal photos with Randy afterward; the rest of our guests arrived at the restaurant by about 2:25, 2:20).

Hope that helps!

We are doing a VR at the WP next month. It'll be at 5 p.m.. Our WC told us to not plan dinner before 7 p.m. to be safe. The WP ceremonies take a bit longer than the other ones, so you should definitely be safe to have a 5 p.m. VR then eat at or after 7. You will have your Disney provided Limo to get you from Sea Breeze to where you want to eat. Just make sure you end dinner within your 4 hour time period or you'll have to add extra time or find another way back.
