Hi - How long do you usually stay at HH in the summer. We have an 8 night reservation and I am considering if that is too long. Thoughts?

We have 7 nights and it is just perfect. If it were VB that would be way too long.

Do you like the beach? If you're not beach people, maybe 8 days is too long-unless you golf? It's such a beautiful relaxing resort we could've stayed two weeks instead of just one, but we love the beach. There are also great day trips from HHI-Beaufort (which we hope to do next visit) and Savannah (which we have done and enjoyed very much).
Hope you enjoy your stay! :)

We go Sun-Sat and always leave wishing we had more time. I'd love to spend 2 weeks down there, I think 8 nights will be great for you.

We never want to leave....but if the heat gets to you look for other activities. The rooms (one bedroom +) are so nice to relax in, too.

We go very summer usually for 4 nights..we drive from Boston. Twice we added one night in Savannah and it was great!!! But my DH is not the best beach person so 4 nights is is limit and it is fine for all the great activities, dining, sunning/beaching etc...We love this resort and added on in 2002 and again in 2010 just to get 11 month window for summer. We also usually add 1-2 nights there on our wdw xmas week trip(last 7 years)..It's our relaxing vacation..december in wdw and summer at HHI.

If you include a day trip to Savannah or Beaufort or Charleston then 5+ nights are good.

We just came back from an 8 night stay at HHI and it still wasn't long enough!!!

This was our longest stay yet as we go almost every summer - while there we talked about next summer planning a 10 night stay!

There is so much to do right on the island, at the resort, as well as their fantastic beach we never leave the island!!

Sorry to hijack the thread but could I ask you about the drive from Boston? Do you drive straight through or do you stop along the way? Also we are wondering how to time it so we aren't stuck in NYC or DC traffic. Thanks!

And to the OP, we are visiting the first time for 5 nights, will le you know if it was too long or too short!

We have opted to take the inland route(via CT, PA, WV NC then to hit (95S after the craziness) the last 3 years to HHI and to WDW..Masspike to 84 -91-691-81-77-26.and then hit 95 in SC. We left Natick Ma at 7:00am and stopped in Charlotte NC that night and then got to HHI around noon the next day...You could do it in one day, but we like this way...Our room was not ready but we hit the beach and then when our room was ready we hit the grocery store and settled in ....We think 4 nights is fine and 2 night in Savannah is even better if we have the time.

Thanks for the info, I will have to check out that route...I had just figured on 95 all the way.

We are finishing a 6 night stay today, and none of us is ready to go home! This has been great!:goodvibes

WE are thinking of doing this next summer...but we are thinking of driving to Hershey PA spending 3 nights...on to HHI for 5 nights then another 4 nights at Busch Gardens VA...

Any thoughts???

We took our three kids there in January 2010 during a big cold snap. (temps in the 40-50 during the day) half the resort was closed due to a remodel, the main pool was closed, and the resort was mostly empty as most people go during the summer. That being said, by kids still talk about that trip to this day. We took 5 days and had a blast. We rented bikes, walked the beach, played pool, and did activities with the great cast members there. If you go during the summer, it will be even better. I think 8 days is just perfect. By the way, our kids at that time were 19, 6 and 3.

We swear by that route. It only took us years to try it and will never do 95 again thru NYC and DC craziness. It is such an easy drive and we are not dead when we arrive at HHI or WDW.

We usually stay 5 or 6 nights and it isn't ever long enough. If you are afraid it is too long you could always plan a day trip to Savannah or Beaufort.
