How long? Half with car, half with ME.... help!

Hi!

We're splitting our party on arrival slightly - 2 adults will be going to collect car and putting all the luggage etc in the car and driving to resort (Caribbean Beach Resort) - and 2 adults + 2 children will be taking Magical Express to resort.

I am the one with all the documents, so I need to be there first. Do you think I'd be quicker taking the ME or hiring the car (Alamo) and driving there?

are you coming in on virgin?
when a virgin plane arrives, the line at alamo gets really really really long..
but other times, alamo is very fast..

my guess would be, the car rental would be faster, but why not just say that they'll have to wait for you to get there to sign in and that's that...
they could just go into the restaurant there and wait for you if you haven't gotten there yet...

Thanks for replying! Sorry, I should have mentioned - yes we're coming in on Virgin. We're 2 families - 2 adults 1 child plus 2 adults 1 child - and 1 adult from each family is going in the car, and then 1 adult from each is going on the bus with both children.

My son has Autism and a couple of other difficulties so he struggles to wait a lot particularly after the long flight - so if i can get checked-in before he arrives on the bus it would be great - or if the bus would be quicker I'll go with him on the bus but he will have to wait for me while I check in. (That probably makes no sense, sorry, I'm struggling to explain myself!)

It's hit or miss

Short line at Alamo, long line at DME or the other way around ...
First stop on DME or getting lost on the highway ... or last stop for DME and very low traffic on the way to the hotel...

DME will drop you at Custom House, and you'll need to park the car there for check in.
For those who will take the DME, you can send them to Old Port Royale and then to Carribean Cay (the island in the middle of the resort which is a playground for kids and pirates)
The walk between Custom House and Carribean Cay or Old Port Royale is long, so you might prefer use the resort shuttle instead.

Carribean Cay is only a good idea if you arrive during daytime.

Just agree on a meeting point, and those who come in first will be allowed to enjoy that wonderful resort by exploring it before the others.
(or you might all wait at Custom House, there are benches and a few things to see there. CMs at check in might give the kids some balloons too)

yes, i agree - it's really hard to know which will be faster...
also, will you all have phones to be able to contact the others when you get to the hotel?

I think we'll leave it to nearer the time and then decide which way to do it!
