How long from NJ to Savannah?

We are leaving Plainfield, CT friday around 5pm and hope to arrive in Westampton NJ around 10pm.
I was planning on driving from NJ to Savannah in one day. Can that be done? How long will it take? We are sleeping in Westampton, NJ on a Friday night and will drive to Savannah Saturday. What time do I need to leave NJ to avoid DC traffic? I was thinking of leaving NJ around 4am? Is that to late? Any travaling suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

According to Mapquest, it's about 750 miles. So I think you'd need to allow about 12 hours plus stops.

Because you are driving down on a Saturday you probably will not have to worry about DC traffic. I-95 through Northern Virginia can get busy on weekends but it's not nearly as bad as during the week. If you can get past DC any time before mid-morning you should be fine. Even after mid-morning may not result in any delays. The drive from Westampton to the DC area should take around 2-1/2 hours so you can leave later than 4am and probably have no problems.

As you approach Batlimore, you can listen to WTOP (103.5 FM) which usually has DC traffic reports every ten minutes. If there are delays on I-95 in Northen Virginia, you can take Routes I97/301/207 through Southern Maryland and Virginia. It adds about 30 minutes to the trip but will join I-95 past the usual trouble spots.

I live in Westampton. Are you staying with friends or are you staying at one of the hotels just off of the Turnpike?

I don't know where exactly Plainfield is in CT, but I can get to Mystic, CT in about 4.5 hours without too much problems.

Sorry, but I've never driven to WDW, I only fly. I can tell you that it takes about 13 hours to get to Hilton Head.
