How long for return of deposit after a reservation is cancelled?

I made an online room only reservation at French Quarter on May 21. I paid the deposit at that time on my bank debit card.

On August 15, I called and asked to use an AP code on the existing reservation, and they cancelled the POFQ res and switched me to POR (which I am not happy about but I'll live). She said they would credit the money from the first reservation back to the bank card, and I had to pay another deposit for the second reservation. OK, fine, I understand that, I even expected it.

Except they haven't credited it back. It still has not showed up at my bank. When I make a payment on a trip, I have noticed it takes four or five days to show up at the bank, but not two weeks. I'd expect the same turnaround time for a refund.

When I called to ask about it today, I got a CM who told me they did credit it back, because they "always credit them back". He wouldn't even LOOK IT UP! He said if I haven't got it, it is the bank's fault, so call them. He was very rude.

So how long can I reasonably expect it to take before I get worried about the refund?

Ours is usually refunded within a day or two, but they do say up to 2 weeks. Now when I changed my package, they didn't do a refund, they just moved it over and I have changed it a number of times since originally booking it, everything from changing resorts to addind and deleting tickets, maybe that is what they did. If you are registered on the WDW website, you can pull up your reservation and view payments and maybe that would help some.

When I pull up the reservation, it's there but empty. All that is left is the Reservation number, no details, not even that it was cancelled. That's how it was by the next day.

The new reservation is also there, with the deposit, and it was there shortly after I made it, but I can't access it on the page with my other reservations (I have three booked right now, a luxury that will never happen again, so I am enjoying it while I can!)...I have to type in the whole new reservation number, and then it shows up.

I also booked a package for November and called and used a code on that...and they didn't ask for any other money just transferred the original deposit to the new reservation and cancelled the first one. I think the reason I had to pay a new deposit for the other one is it was room only.

Looks like we should have had the refund by now so I will call back and talk to another CM, Thanks all!

I was told it should be 48 hours or so but it's been almost 2 weeks and I haven't been refunded for my room-only deposit from a ressie that I cancelled. I think I'll give it a few more days and then call to ask about it.

OP...I think I'd try calling again...maybe the next CM won't be so rude and will look it up for you...it's worth a try:thumbsup2

When I cancelled a room only reservation and changed it to a package, they refunded my room only deposit. I was required to put up a deposit for the package.

I was told it could take up to two weeks for the refund to process. I received it in 5 banking days. That's another thing to keep in mind. Banking days and week days are totally different.

If I were you and I didn't receive it by next Wednesday (remember Monday is a legal holiday), I would call them.

I did call back and asked another CM, who was not rude, but told me once again it takes up to two months. I told her I knew several people who had gotten theirs back in 2-3 days and she said, "Well, then they were very lucky because it can take up to two credit card billing cycles." *sigh*

I told her in two months I'll be BACK from the trip! I may have to give them more money for the rooms before I get the original back ;)

That is insane, I have never waited that long to get a refund. Looking at my credit card statements it is usually posted back to the acct in 1 to 2 days and always before I even receive my statement. If you used your bank card, it still shouldn't take that long.
