I live in a state (WA) not registered to sell DVC, so considering a quick weekend trip to WDW for the sole purpose of buying DVC. In your experience, how long will it take to complete the paperwork? (Cash sale) Does my spouse have to sign anything?

Thanks for your assistance.

If you make an appointment with your guide and tell them how many points you want to purchase you should be able to have things done in about 1 hour, maybe 2 at the most.

Your spouse will only need to sign if you intend on having joint ownership.

As it is likely your spouse will want joint ownership, both signatures will be required to do that. Signing the papers does not take a long time. Reading all the material does (disclosure documents and contract material when stacked is over 1 1/2 inches thick of paper). In other words, you could spend anywhere from 1 to 7 hours getting through it--the shorter time if you do little reading. If you are going for the weekend you might want to get all the materials one day and sign the next so you can read through what they give you.
