How long does it take???

Ok so DW and I are finally going to make the plunge and purchase 160pt at BLT. I have a call into our guide and she is suppose to call back and get everything rolling.

My question is how long does this process usually take? How fast after we close can we make reservations?

Ask your guide, they can assist with making your first reservation for you in advance of what is considered closing ( usually can be done upon initial paperwork/deposit placed ).

New members are usually loaded in within a business day or two of the signed "initial form" (don't recall what it was called). This is NOT the contract - simply an agreement stating the intent to purchase. I also gave the deposit at that time which the form is used for.

At that point, I believe you and/or your guide are able to make reservations. The rules are that you can't use a reservation until the contract actually closes though, and all monies are paid, say 30 or so days later. My guide took care of getting my first two reservations (using developer points) sometime that first week after I paid deposit. The reservations were for 4+ months down the road though.

I was provided my member number the Tuesday or Wednesday after I signed the initial form on a Saturday. Contract came about a week later, I signed and returned and closing occurred about 3 weeks later. This was my experience at least.

Disney will let you make reservations before the ink is dry on your first document. That way you can find out that you need to buy additional points.

You should be in the Member Services system within a couple of days, and able to make reservations after that point (although remember that you can't actually travel until after the resort officially opens on August 4th). Your Guide can also make a tentative reservation for you, which you can finalize after you get into the system. Congratulations, and welcome home!!

I had our guide make our reservations for us for Dec and we are set. We got it in before the 7 month window.
