How long does dinner last?

We have the late dinner seating on the 7-night western this summer.

What is an estimate of how long the late dinners usually last? I know our teenagers will be wanting to get back to the nighttime activities as soon as possible.

Thanks!
Karen

It depends a little on your server. We have a favorite who is very fast. He asks on the first night that we make a point of arriving right on time or a minute early, so that he can get orders in quickly.

Based on 10 cruises, dinner lasts 75-90 minutes. You can always hang around longer over drinks or coffee or whatever, but you can do dinner and any "show" in the dining room easily in 90 minutes. If kids are in a hurry or whatever and you have a fast server, it can be just a little over an hour.

KarenB,

there is another post " IS this Rude...." that talks about kids leaving dinner early. If you read this post I think it will help you out.

i agree with kcashner and its your server and what sitting your at. second sitting might be a little longer since there is no rush for the next sitting. i hope this helps

Two FULL hours - no less.
Early seating is approx. 1.5 hours
We prefer the early seating

oh my goodness, 2 hours??? That would mean that if you have the 8:30 seating (which we have, and I dont mind) we wouldn't get done with dinner untill 10:30??

We had the early seating and never got out of the dining room before 7:45. (With NO lingering at all.) Of course, I also remember thinking that our servers were rather slow and noting that other diners were done at least 15-20 minutes before we were. Never saw anyone done in less than 90 minutes though.

We opt for late seating (you are not as rushed as early seating) and were always out of the dining room by 10:15pm. HTH

We had the late seating and usually never got back to the room before 10. Our servers weren't slow, dinner just took that long because there are so many courses, I guess.

We had late seating on our western...dinner was almost 2 hours every night.

With our late seating, we were out consistantly between 9:45 and 10pm every night.

We're just off the 3/13 Magic sailing. We had late seating. The service was painfully slow, it was 10:30 before we were out each night. And yes, we were on time, or a bit early for dinner (they don't open the doors until 8:30, so you can't even get into the dining room before then). I don't know if it was rude or not, but our teenagers left after their entrees each night. They don't eat dessert anyway, so sitting there for that much longer would have been torture for them.

It also depends on what order your table is in.

We thought our servers were very prompt, but we were the last table getting served (our tablemates were always a few minutes late for dinner, plus with four little kids at the table, there was always a need to slow a course for a potty break or a page from the kids club). So, on occation, other tables in our section would be finishing dessert while ours was arriving. We were often nearly the last people out of the dining room
