how long will it take us to eat at these restaurants? we're trying to plan some things.

- 'ohana dinner
- whispering canyon cafe
- grand floridian cafe
- crystal palace breakfast
- chef mickey's breakfast

I think it takes 45 minutes to an hour for all the characters to make the rounds, at least that was my experience at CM, CP and 1900PF.

I agree. We usually assume a meal will take an hour if we are trying to plan around it

For character meals, we usually figure it will take about 90 mins. from check-in to leaving the restaurant. Non-character/non-signature we usually figure in 45-60 minutes start to finish. Signatures we figure 90-120 minutes. Anything less we consider bonus time.

I agree 100%!....i'd say 1 to 1 1/2 hours sounds more accurate. Dont forget if your dining at a busy time, its not unusual to wait past your ADR time! This is almost guaranteed at places like Chef Mickeys and Tusker House.

They (Disney) will tell you to plan for at least an hour for character meals. We've never had one go less. Only once did we have a meal that was right at an hour and that was CP for breakfast. Most others are closer to an hour and a half. If you're at a non-character meal, you can tell your server that you have plans and need to be out by a certain time and they will do their best to accomodate. Meals like WCC are good ones to do this to because it's a skillet, so they bring the food out and it's always getting made and easy to bring it out in a relatively fast fashion.

I don't know about the character meals, but our breakfast at GF Cafe took over an hour! The service was soooooooo slow!

hmm, okay, thank you for the info.

what about 'ohana? that is one that is stressing me out in particular, because we would like to eat and then get to the beach to watch fireworks.

What time is your ADR for? What time is Wishes that night? 'Ohana is tougher to tell because you could wait for an hour after your ADR time before you actually get a table and the service can be beyond awful. But, the amount of time you actually spend at your table is up to you and how much you plan on eating. If you have a 7PM ADR and Wishes is at 10, you won't have an issue. If you have an 8PM ADR and Wishes is at 9, you won't make it to the beach in time.

wishes is at 9 and our ADR is for 6:45. is that okay? i can switch to 5ish but that seems a bit too early. is it common to wait an hour for your ADR at 'ohana? i think dbf might kill me if that's the case.

Depending on how long it takes you to be seated you may or may not be/feel a bit rushed, but it should be enough time. We have waited as much as a half hour after our ADR time for a table, but I have read a lot of horror stories on the boards about waiting a lot longer. If I had seen it once or twice I wouldn't think anything of it, but I have read it enough that it warrents a bit of caution.

Besides the chance of a long wait to get your table, you might want to give your DBF a heads up on a few other things. The service our last 2 visits have been awful and there is an MC throughout your dinner that we find to be obnoxiously loud and intrusive on our meal. If you are sitting around where the kids do their cococut races, you might get hit in the foot with coconuts and have kids swiping at your feel with brooms are parents climing over you to get a picture. The food has also gotten pretty lousy. For as much as everyone raves about this place you could have a pretty miserable experience. I still encourage you to try 'Ohana and form your own opinion, I'm just giving you a heads up as to what you might encounter. :thumbsup2
