How long does Character breakfast take?

We are planning on doing a character breakfast (probably Goofy's Kitchen) during our Oct. trip. About how long does it take to get through breakfast? I assume with all the character pictures/autographs it takes longer to get through it than a regular breakfast. I'm just trying to figure out when to make PS reservations so that we still make it to the front gates to get a good spot. I think the park will probably open at 10am (although the schedule isn't out yet). Thanks for your help!!

Edited to add: Since we're staying offsite (on Harbor) we probably won't be able to walk across to the DLH for the breakfast because I douby the security check point will be open that early right? So how should we make our way there? Drive? If so, where do we park?

Not sure how big your party is, but I would plan on at least 1 hour, or to be safe, 1.5 hours so you have plenty of time to make it to the gates on time.

As far as security, that shouldn't be a problem. If there's no open security checkpoint, you should still be able to walk on through to DTD. I'm sure Disney plans for those staying at Harbor hotels to walk over in the mornings for Character Breakfasts.

(I'm sure they would make anyone lined up at the gates before they open the security checkpoints to go back and through a security check.)

Goofy's is a buffet so a lot of it depends on you and how much time you want to spend. I believe they allow you 90 minutes total but we were done in about an hour. We went to the first seating last November at around 7 or 7:30 and there weren't lines for the omelets or anything like that. If you go later I am sure that might be a consideration.

Not sure about the security gates but if you drove, you could probably just park at the DL hotel.

It'll only be me, dh, and our 2 dd's (ages 5 and 2). So I guess I'll plan for 1.5 hrs and if we get out a little early we'll just wander around DTD for a bit. Thanks!

If you get done early, you could also go stand in line for the monorail as you will be right there.

I always wondered how that worked? Do they scan your ticket before you board? What about security? Do you think it's faster than going through the front gates? And where would it drop you off? We want to hit FL first that day. I haven't rode the monorail into DL since I was 10 years old and we were staying at the DLH (when that was the only hotel!)

Yes, they scan your ticket before you get onto the monorail and they have a mini security set up there to look thru your stuff too. It is hard to say if it will be faster than the front gate???? If there is a long line at the monorail, I would just walk to the front gate. However, if it is early and nobody in line, I would probably stand in line (but that is just me). It drops you off in Tomorrowland so you would be very close to FL.

Also, if you will be taking strollers you will have to collapse them for the monorail ride so if that could be a potential hassle.

They do have a security check there, and they'll scan your tickets at the turnstiles.

It's drops you off in Tomorrowland, between Nemo and Autopia.

Not sure if it's faster, but if I was going to take a guess, I'd say it's not, but you never know. It would save you from having to walk all the way through DTD again to get to the front gates.

The monorail is NOT faster in my opinion. We were just there a few weeks ago and were well into the line for nemo one day before the monorail even arrived. Also, they are close, but to me it is special to walk in and head straight through the castle. In addition if you are not one of the first in line for PP then you will end up waiting in line for most of the FL rides.

DL is truly a place where the early bird gets the worm.

Yeah, we always arrive early and head straight to PP. Since this will be Wed. morning with no EE we expect to get all of fantasyland done pretty quickly. I think we'll probably be better off to head to the gates since they open MS early so we can be right there on MS when the park opens. That seems like it would be quicker to me.
