How long do you stay?

Just wondering....... depending on how many points someone might have....
what is the longest time that anyone might have stayed at a vacation club resort? Do they put a limit on how long you can stay? If you own at two resorts do you split your stay for a extended period?
I have a good number of points and getting to the point in my life where I could manage a longer stay.
Would love to get some input!
Thanks

Our longest was 21 days. Our average is 10 days, 3 times per year. We usually split stay and we have decided that one transfer/split stay per vacation is our max.

We have been splitting our stays between two resorts the past couple of years because we have been going for one longer stay rather than a couple of shorter stays.

We were there summer 2010 for 14 days. And we decided it was a few days too many. So this year we are going for 10 nights.

You can go for as long as you like. There is no limit. There is only your limit. I have a friend that stays at one resort for a four weeks at a time. DH and I feel like moving is nice to have a different experience. It depends on what you are looking for.

DW and I do not put a limit, if anything we wish we could stay more! :rotfl:
We own at one resort OKW, as that was the only DVC when we bought. Our longest trip on points was, VB for two days, DCL for four nights, and then OKW for five days.
When we originally purchased we could stay 27 nights per year (Sun through Thurs), but after the latest change in points we are down to 22 nights per year.

Longest 14 nights.... shortest so far.... 6 nights. Even our longest trip was NOT long enough. :rotfl2:

Thanks everyone!
The longest I have stayed is 6 nights. Then I might get in a 3 night stay at another time in the course of the year. I would love to stay 2-3 weeks and see how that would be, get some relief from the cold weather. I'm happy to hear that don't restrict your number of nights.

We usually do 10 nights and we own a 3 resorts, but we never do a split stay. Once I'm unpacked and settled, I don't want to pack it all up again and move.

DVC will limit your stay by limiting the amount of points you can own. I'm not sure what the number is, but it is quite high, way more than my 500 points!

Ditto. Split stays do not appeal to me at all. Our longest trip is coming up this summer - 10 days at BCV. Personally, there are never enough days at Disney for me! :lovestruc I think DH and DS (15) will think it's on the "too long" side. I'll be interested in seeing what they think.

We have stayed as many as 13 nights, but our preference is 10. Lately we have only been doing week long trips, but that's because we have been short of points lately.

Just did 19 nights at SSR :) It's our usual trip and the reason we bought in. We have an 18mo old and 4yr old so moving is really not an option right now.

We haven't stayed as long as the previous posters, though eventually I can see us taking longer trips. When the kids were little, we would usually stay a week. We never stayed longer because we had responsibilities for elderly relatives at home (hubby's parents and uncle and my grandmother). It was just too difficult to coordinate longer stays. When the kids went to college, hubby and I started going for long weekends (4 nights, 5 days) and found these to be ideal for us. Our longest trip was nine days for our 25th wedding anniversary. We had extended family coming in at different times, all overlapping our actual anniversary and vow renewal... and we wanted to fully enjoy time with each of the groups. I foresee a day when this pattern becomes the norm, as our kids marry and start families of their own. Then we can plan 10 day trips with a few days on either end with each individual family (son or daughter plus families) and then an overlap period in the middle. That will give us time all together and also the ability to focus on each family individually.

Evey =)

I'd have to go dig out my POS to find the exact numbers, but there are restrictions to both the number of points you can own at any one resort, the total number of points you can own, and the number of consecutive nights you can stay. The restriction on how long you can stay, though, is to ensure you don't establish DVC as a permanent residence. It's probably not a number that would interfere with what you'd take as a vacation.

Our typical trip is 7 nights in a studio with the 2 of us, followed by another 5-7 nights in a two bedroom with friends or family invited. We'll also often take a second studio trip for either a 4-day weekend, or if we're lucky, another week.

it's a long haul from the UK so we go twice per year for 14 days each. If we had the points and holiday entitlement to stay longer we would. We go back in May and have split between 3 resorts (Kidani, BW, SSR). Disney make the transfer between resorts painless. Have a great time. :dance3:

We stayed at Disney for 14 consecutive nights last year, and are doing 16 this May/June. 14 nights wasn't long enough for us - none of us were ready to come home. We stay 2 weeks in May, and a week in Sept. That uses up all of our points, and DH's vacation time at work. Our trip in Sept will be immediate family only, but we will invite others to join us for part of our May/June trip.

21 nights this summer, 25, 18, 19 the previous summers. Also a Christmas trip usually (not this year though:guilty:)

I think the longest we've stayed is 12-13 nights but since I have to travel quite a ways to get there I won't go unless we are there for at least 6 nights. Next stay in July is for 7 nights.

Y-ASK

The longest we've stayed onsite has been 8 nights. We've added some nights at Universal and/or the beach on one end or the other for some vacation to total 13 nights. DH is self-employed, so it is very hard for him to be away for more than that.
