How long do refunds from Disney take?

Does anyone know how long it takes for the money to get put back into your bank account if you cancel your Disney trip? I paid for it with a visa check card that is directly linked to my account.

Here's the deal. I won't get into the whole thing, but for various reasons, I canceled our trip with the plan of re-booking a different way. Because I'd already paid the balance in full, they said they would credit me back the same way I had paid for it. So I assume that means the $$ would go back into my bank account.

The CM I talked to when I called to re-book the next day kept telling me that it would go back on my credit card within 30 days, on my next billing cycle. I kept trying to explain to her that the card I used had a visa logo but that it was most certainly NOT a credit card and I don't have billing cycles, just monthly bank statements, and usually when something gets credited, it shows up on my bank account (I check bank activity online) within a day or two.

She did not understand this at all. So maybe I'm wrong and my checking account does have billing statements.

Anyway, I re-booked and just paid the deposit with a real credit card (I learned my lesson about making big purchases with my checkcard after being double charged and having my checking account locked up for almost a week). I canceled the original trip on the 11th.

Still no sign of a credit on my bank account. Does anyone know how long these sorts of refunds take? I really need the $$ from the original trip to pay off the new one, and hopefully within a week or so.

Anyone have expereince with this?

I know even refunds from stores can take 5 - 10 business days for the amount to be back into your bank account.

Since your trip is so far off (just as far off as mine!!), I would hold off on paying your balance off. I have a balance of $100 on my ressie and I had called about a week ago to make a payment. The CM at CRO told me I shouldn't pay it off so soon because if you apply a discount later, it's a bit more complicated than it would be if there was a balance due (not quite sure why?). If the ressie is made through CRO, you can pay if off when you check in.
I wouldn't worry about doing it immediately. I am sure we'll have some discounts available for Dec!!

Lol! I just like to have things done & taken care of. I have two checking accounts, a real one (for boring stuff like bills and food) and a vacation one (for fun things like WDW trips).

Until I get back the $$ from the first trip, the vacation fund is pretty empty. The double charge was finally reversed but the refund for the entire balnce has yet to come in. I just want to be able to pay off the deposit which I had to put on a regular credit card before the next billing cycle on the cc. I should have worded my post better. Lol!

Not sure about what WDW does but I have run into some places that handle returns on check cards as checks and send you a check back in the mail (or in the case of a retail store, give you back money) - But that's not the norm.

I think because they have to entirely cancel it and rebook it if they have no balance due. I could be wrong though.

when we canceled our trip for this year we had payed 75 % of ours and we got a check back in about 10 days by mail.

I called to cancel our trip ON THE 45th DAY... the cut off day for refunds - I have a visa that debits against my securities account. It scans like a credit card, but is actually a card that debits my account or automatically borrows against whatever stocks or bonds I may have in my portfolio at the time. It debits the cash first. Anyway, I was credited back in about three weeks if I recall - I can check my cash flow statement if you want me to be precise - but if I recall properly it was like 2 to 3 weeks

That sounds like how mine works, except if I don't have the cash in the account, it will either dcline the card, or charge me an overdraft fee. I think I'll just give it a few weeks and see what happens. Sounds like I probably can't hope to see a credit for a few weeks.
