How Long Do I Have to Activate an AP once I have purchased it?

We have a trip planned in June, which means I have to make fastpass reservations soon. I need the AP to make the fastpass reservations, but I don't know yet whether we will be keeping that June trip. We may push it off to make our trip in September or December-if we decide to go at all this year.

If I go ahead and purchase the AP, but decide not to activate it this year, how long do I have to activate it once purchased?

That is true for the first AP. In the future, if you renew, the activation date is the date the previous AP expired, not the date you used the renewed AP. Just something to keep in mind for the future.
