How long do ADR's normally take?

We have an ADR for Cape May at 7:30 and EP has EMH that day. What time can I expect to get to EP? I know that I will not make Rope Drop but is it reasonable to expect that I will be at EP before the general public is let in at 9am?

You need to allow an hour if you want all the characters to get around to your table. And then you need to time to get to Epcot. You can walk from Cape May to the IG entrance, but then you will have to walk up to Future World, so I don't see how you could get there any earlier than 9.

So you will be getting there right around when they open to the general public. I would consider going to another park that day.

I agree with the above poster.

I suppose in theory you could chow down and get out quickly since it is a buffet but you wouldn't get to see all of the characters. If EMH are really important you might want to just grab a quick breakfast that day instead of a sit down one.

When we ate at Cape May last year, we were seated on time, the restaurant was not busy, but the characters were spaced so that we were there about an hour and 10 minutes. We were finished eating well before the last character. Add the walk to get into Epcot and I don't think you'll make it. You could always choose to skip the last character as they are spaced about 15 minutes apart.

Ok, looks like I need to rethink this. What if I make a late ADR for Cape May (around 10.:45)

This way we can get the major attractions done early, grab a FP, stop for Breakfast and then return for a few more rides.

Does it make sense to do it this way?

On an EMH morning, I personally wouldn't leave the park until around lunchtime. If you go for a 10:45 ADR at Cape May, by the time you get back to Epcot, it will probably be so much more crowded than when you left the park. Remember, you will have to leave Future World early, so you have time to walk to the International Gateway and then to Beach Club for your ADR (Beach Club is about a 5-minute walk from the Int'l Gateway). Plus, it is a good idea to get to your ADR about 15 minutes early. So that would mean you would have to arrive at Cape May no later than 10:30, after first walking there all the way from Future World.

Is it possible for you to go to the character breakfast at Cape May on a different morning?

Yes, we can get and ADR for Cape May the following morning but we will still need a place for Breakfast on Tuesday. I prefer a TS to a CS if at all posible. Not sure what to do here. :confused3

Which resort are you staying at? If you will be at Beach Club or at another Epcot resort, maybe you can try Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club. It is a TS, and they have a choice of either buffet or a la carte breakfast menu. If you opt for the buffet it won't take you long. I'm not sure what time they open though.

If you will be in the MK resort area, Chef Mickey's opens at 7AM but I don't see how you could get to Epcot for an EMH morning rope drop if you are at the Contemporary for breakfast at 7AM.

Another option would be the breakfast in Norway at Epcot, but the problem is that it begins at 8AM, the time the park would be opening.

Hmmm...could you maybe go to Epcot on a different morning or would it not make a difference? Or maybe have breakfast in your room that morning? If you are staying at a deluxe resort you could order room service breakfast. If not, you can bring something with you like cereal bars or something to have quickly in the room. We did that last time and it worked out great for EMH-mornings.

We really wanted to do EMH since we only plan to stay 1/2 day. We are staying at the BC. Maybe we can have something in the room before we go and get an early lunch before we depart the park. Thanks~

That sounds like a plan! There are plenty of great places to have lunch at Epcot, especially in the world showcase! Then it is only a 5-minute walk back to your resort! Remember, if you don't want the hassle of keeping breakfast items in your room, there's always the option of room service breakfast. You may even be able to share something to keep costs down. Have a wonderful trip!!;)
