How long did it take you to get your refund with SW

Last week my flight price dropped by 1/2. SW agreed to give me a refund. Well that was last Tues and nothing is on my credit card as yet. How long has it taken you guys to get your refund.

I got a refund last year when the same thing happened but I can't remember how long it took.

Are you sure you are getting a refund on your Credit Card and NOT a SWA credit for future travel?

My airfare on southwest dropped also last week by almost $175 rt for tow. It was great i was so excited. But i got a "credit" but not on my credit card. It was a credit to be used within a year on any future flying plans i have made. Yuo can check to see if it went in there by just checkin on there wesire under air credits. I was told on the phone by the rep that they dont credit your credit card. That they would issue me a credit to use again later. :confused3
 
I have done this in the past. But I only got the credit - to my card, after completion of the trip. Which was good enough for me. Better than having them give me a SW credit for a future flight. But either way you do get a bargain.
 

Nope they said they would credit back my credit card that day.

Maybe I should call.

I did it twice...it took 10 business days, which is what the agent told me. Give it a little more time before calling.
 
Great thanks, I was thinking about the 10 day mark....but just being a little inpatient, I am just thrilled they agreed to give me back the refund.
 
When my husband talked to Southwest about getting his refund, the agent told him that sometimes you need to call your credit card to let them know you want your credit. Apparantly, they are allowed to take up to 60 days to give you your credit? That's what he was told although we got our credit 2 business days later.
 
I was told up to 10 days which is what it took, but got it no problem. You should see it soon. Also I do think it is business days and not actual days, but I'm not positive.
 
How does one go about getting a credit back on their credit card vs. receiving a SWA credit?

I'd like to know too, because when I called just a week or so ago, I was told absolutely no refund...SWA credit only....??!!??
 
Last Tuesday I called SWA customer service #, not the 1-800-IFLYSWA, and asked if they could refund the difference between the flights I booked on Monday and rebooked on Tuesday at a much cheaper fare. I don't know if it was because I had booked it less than 24 hours before the fares went down and because I did not change my flights but the customer service rep said she could give me a refund on my credit card. She did tell me it would take 10-12 days to show up on my card though. You have to call their customer service number though as the regular agents cannot make the decision to refund your credit card.

I did the same thing Donna did...called the long distance # (free on my cell phone). I booked and changed my sept trip a total of 5 times:
1)STL to MCO
2)cancelled and rebooked due to Ding fare (got ticketless travel funds)
3)cancelled and rebooked MCI to MCO finally at same rate as original STL to MCO rate so used ticketless travel funds for rebooking
4)cancelled and rebooked due to Ding fare out of MCI (called and got $40 refund)
5)cancelled and rebooked due to Internet fare sale of $59 (called and got a whopping $400 refund!!!)

This all started early May, and my last booking was in July, so, I'm proof it works!
 
Wahooo, refund was on my credit card today!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love southwest!!!!!
 
vossjemi, I'm impressed! That sounds like me for our trip last May but they wouldn't give me a refund since I had originally booked flights out of MCI and then changed to STL. But since I knew we were going in October, I didn't mind having the credit as ticketless travel funds.

Wow I did the EXACT same thing last year and they would only give me SWA credit ! I wonder what makes them decide whether to give credit or a refund?
 
Both last year and this year I have gotten a "CASH" credit. I was told it was because I had not changed anything, just gotten in on the cheaper price.
 
This may be a silly question - but does it make a difference if you book it through SW over the phone or book it on their website? Also, is the customer service number that you used on the webiste? I certainly want to make sure I'm calling the right #. Thanks so much for the info.
 
If you booked an "Internet Only" fare, they cannot give you a credit over the phone. Otherwise it shouldn't make a difference.
 
Buzzfan: I've always booked my flights online. Don't know if it makes any difference.
