How long did it take you to get pregnant?

Funny you should post this as I was thinking of asking the same thing. I got pg with DS # 1 the first time. I was 29. He's now 3.5 and we've been trying for # 2 and it's not as easy this time around.

I got PG last fall and lost it after 8 weeks. It took about 2 months.

We've now tried a few months recently and no success. I really thought I was PG last month but it didn't "stick" as they say. My Dr. told me to try for at least 6 mos before he'll do another check-up. I worry about secondary infertility as i've had a few friends who've had trouble having #2. I used an OPK last time and timed it out right, but there is still only about a 25% chance.

Mind you, this has only been a few months....I give those women who've tried for years sooooooo much credit. It's frustrating, disappointing and everything else. Best of luck to you.

About day one for DS once we decided it was time. As far as our twin DD's were concerned, it took a very long 3 years.

So far it has been just over 4 years and we are still waiting. Don't know if it will ever happen. And I'm only 24.

1st time, tried for 4 yrs and decided to adopt
tried for 2 more yrs and decided to adopt again
3rd time, didn't try at all, just adopted again:sunny:

It took me a long time. After trying for awhile the ob/gyn put me on Clomid (vile, awful stuff)--got pregnant and miscarried. We waited about 6 months and tried Clomid again--got pregnant, but something wasn't "right". We found out at the ER (after being admitted and discovering my b/p was dangerously low) that I had an ectopic pregnancy that had ruptured. I bled a little over 3.5 liters internally before emergency surgery.

We didn't try at all for awhile after that, then we decided to adopt. We only waited 5 months for Zane, which is almost unheard of in domestic adoption. What an incredible blessing this child is--I cannot believe my baby starts Kindergarten in a couple weeks!

Fast forward to late 2002--we decided to try one last hurrah(with a Reproductive Endocrinologist); after all we live in IL where infertility coverage is mandated. We did a couple rounds of injectibles/IUI, then in July 2003 did our first in-vitro. We now have 4.5 month old twin boys. :D

About 5 minutes the first time. The two after that were a little longer. :p ;)

Bwahahaha... that was witty! I liked it.

I always very easily became pregnant, within a month or two of trying. Just kept having miscarriages...4 to be exact. But after 3 very healthy children, I'm happy to give my body a rest!

Good luck to you, hope it happens soon!!!

4 months with #1
1 month with #2
3 months with #3

The emotional strength it must take to wait years....

A long time.

With DS9, it took 3 years of infertility before he was conceived through IVF.

With our second, we started the process when our oldest was 2. It took 3 years before we were successful - with a miscarriage in between our two DS's.

Good luck!

DS#1 - 3 months of trying
DD - exactly one year of trying...we were charting, taking basal temp, etc...had appointment with OBGYN to talk about our options...we were so excited when I had to call & change our GYN appointment to an OB appointment!!!
DS#3 - 1st time trying
DS#4 - ooops. (last two are 16 months apart)

Tried for 3 months, nothing so went to a fertility Dr, took low dose meds and got pregnant that first month! Clomed worked great and only trouble I had was I had one hot flash while I was taking it....

My husband and I are very fertile people - I got pregnant w/ both of my DD's on the first try.:)

If it makes you feel any better though, I have 2 friends that were not as lucky as me and it took them a long time to get pregnant. Friend #1 - took her 2 years to get pregnant w/ DD
Friend #2 - took her 1 year to get pregnant w/ DS

Try not get to depressed - even though I am sure that is easier said than done. Just have fun trying:) and I am sure you will become pregnant soon - I'll send some pixie dust your way:wave:

Had three miscarriages before having DD. We waited almost 11 years for our precious little angel;) . Long time to wait. We bought the Clear Plan Easy fertility monitor just to make sure of our timing and it worked the first time.

We feel very blessed and thinking despite our age (soon to be 37) to try for another one. Can't afford to wait another 11 years again!

Started trying for a baby in Oct 1997--went back to using BC in I think Feb 1998 because we palnned a vacation in May.
Resumed in May, got pregnant in August, so that was 9 months.
Miscarried at 10 weeks on Oct 27th, 1998. Got pregnant again in January 1999, due date October 27,1999, conicidentally. She was born the 24th.

With my son, got pregnant immediatly..and I mean immediatly. LOL We were on vacation and threw caution to the wind one night. He was born 9 months later.
:teeth:

I just want to say how blessed and lucky each one of you are.:) We have been trying for a combined total of 4 years. We had to stop trying half way through (kidney disease/transplant) and try a InVitro through a surrogate(it didn't work) When I was healthy enough to try myself, we sought help. After 6 months of clomid and no success, I went to see a Fertility specialist. Went through ALL the testing out there to see if there was a medical problem. Nada! We have unexplained infertility. So we tried all the fertility treatments short of Invitro on myself(no more $$ left). So we on a break from trying. I just try to keep thinking that it will happen someday. It is such a emotional rollercoaster when trying to conceive, that is actually nice not to have to come home to 'honey I'll meet in the bedroom in 5min. Be ready!'LOL. Slowly I am coming to terms that we may never have children. Adoption is our last resort, and a risky one due to my medical history.

So I just want to say, you are truly blessed, and I wish everyone with children a happy, healthy and peaceful life :)

2 months with my first and the minute I said, "we can stop trying to prevent it" with the 2nd. LOL. She's our little Disney Cruise souvenir so I can't complain.

First try,both kids.

I come from a long line of very fertile women. My mom had 9 kids, my patnernal grandmother 7, my maternal grandmother 10.

We're very blessed. I have a close friend dealing with infertility issues now, my heart breaks for her. :( Its so sad to think what great parents they would be, and all the people out there who don't even want the kids they have........ doesn't seem fair. :(
