gathering lots of good info here!! I see that the park closes at various times but how long can you stay in the park after it closes? It appears that some things may take place AT closing so how do you know when they're actually closed?

Thanks!
Sara

In most cases the time given as closing is when attractions close or no longer allow more people to get in line. They usually will post a CM at the end of a line or place a chain across an entrance.

The posted closing times in my experience are not hard and fast times. For example a few years back we were trying to get on TestTrack and they were having mechanical difficulties. The posted EPCOTclosing time was 9:00 pm, we finally got on the ride at 10:45 !

I never stayed after park closing but I think I read (may-be here)
that the shops stay open 1 hour after park closing times.

Does anyone know if this is true? :confused3

I was just going to post something about the stores. I only know for sure that main street stores stay open 1 hr after the park closes can't say for the other parks. a special even called the Kiss Goodnight also happens after close by the castle =)

Just wanted to chime in about the jumping in line at park closing. They will let you ride, if you can get there before the park officially closes. My DD and I watched the last show of Nemo at AK. It went past the park's official closing time. But, it was also EMH that evening. We left after that, sadly because we were staying offsite.

at closing its like a stamped to the gate so to avoid the crowdes and the crowed bus line we go to the back of the park and then slowly make are way back by talking to cms ( if you get a good one you can find out a lot about disney you dont know ) ,taking pictures ( some of my best pictures of the parks are at that time ) looking in shop windows ,and the buses run about 1 hr after closing

I still have a picture of the security CM from my first trip in 84 that prety much chased me out of the park. They were clearing the park one section at a time and I wasn't leaving just staying in front of him. We did this all the way to the front gate that's where I took his picture. He was cool about it saying that I was suposed to be leaving but laughing everytime he would find me in the next section.

Is this the same during Extra Magic Hours in the evening? For example if normal closing is at 10pm but there is EMH until 1am does that mean the rides stay open until 1am, but the shops and park might stay open later - say until 2am?

If its EMH then yes the rides will remain open until park closing, but only select rides! Usually the more popular ones, all of Fantasyland will be open because all the rides are popular, most of Frontierland rides will be open except Country Bear Jamboree(but will be open during busy season EMH), and Tom Sawyer Island. \All of Adventureland rides will be open (not sure about SFR Treehouse). All of Tommorowland rides will be open (however not sure about Carousel of Progress), of course Space Mountain will be closed because of the refurbishments.

And yes the shops will stay open a little later as most of the guest leave the park.

Buses run up to 2 hours after closing. Guest "wranglers" start sweeping the parks about an hour and a half after closing time and start encouraging guests to move towards the exit. Buses usually take guests to a few different resorts (they consoliate runs - we stopped at Pop to drop off some guests before we got back to CBR).

We snagged a walk-up at Le Cellier at 9 pm back in January and our server told us not to worry about rushing our meal and filled us in on these details. We left the restaurant between 10:15 and 10:30 [and we didn't even want/order dessert!], and didn't see any "wranglers" at the WS/FW border yet, although they might have been starting sweeps at the back of the park by then.

thats awesome that you can dine after the park closes!!

I was able to make a ressie for 50's Prime Time Cafe after DHS posted closing time. I had to cancel it but it would have been nice to be in the park after hours

I can just speak for Magic Kingdom. On normal nights, the stores on Main Street close 30 minutes after park closing except for the Emporium which closes an hour after closing. The rest of the stores close when the park closes. As far as EMH, the main street do not stay open an hour later, they close with the park. As long as you are in the store, or in a ride line, you can finish shopping, or ride the ride. They don't kick pick out until the busses stop running. I worked in MK, and only saw this happen a few times, when there were literaly one family left in all of magic kingdom.
