How long before the wedding date did you have your first dress fitting?

Hi all - just trying to figure things out... I haven't actually tried on my dress since we bought it last summer. I was wondering how far in advance I have to have my first fitting? Thanks. :sunny:

I think it depends when you bought it. I ordered my dress in January, it will arrive in June/July and I will have my first fitting in August. I have been back to the shop many times to try on the same dress - I am trying to loose some weight so I go back to see how much more I need to loose! :rotfl2: Personally I think four months is plenty of time for a fitting. Hope this helps

The place that I bought mine will not do a fitting until 1 month before the wedding, they said that there are too many brides who lose weight at the last min which causes too many re dos=
The shop that I worked for also did them about 1-2 months in advance for wedding.

My dress will be in around June/July but im not having a fitting untill nearer the time. Im going to aim to have my first fitting around October.

I got my dress in February at Davids Bridal. The day of pickup I scheduled my first fitting which is the beginning of July. My wedding is the end of September. So it is about 4 months. Then they said they would schedule my last fitting about three weeks prior to the wedding. Good luck!!

I ordered mine in March from the bridal boutique and it came in 4 months later. I had to have the initial try-on right away to see what all would need to be done. Fortunately it was a near perfect fit! I had a fitting in August and the final one the beginning of September for our October wedding. They did one minor thing after the August fitting and the September one was just to see it all "done."

But my seamstress said if I'm the type to fluctuate in my weight she would do another fitting closer to the wedding date. I've been the same weight for years so that wasn't a concern for me, but it might be something to consider if you think you'll lose or gain due to stress or a diet.

2 weeks :scared1: my seamstress was on vacation. It wasn't a problem because we knew in advance and the dress didn't need much work except hemming, bustle and 2 little tucks on the top.
