How long after the DCA overhaul until Disney throws some money at DLP?

Once the DCA overhaul is complete, that park should be good for the next few years, not needing any major updates or anything. So that leads me to believe (and hope) that Disney will turn the bulk of their attention back over to Disneyland Park itself and do what they need to do there in order plus it however they can. So, if this is correct, what do you think Disney will/could do in DLP to plus it? What needs to be overhauled/reworked/tweaked/upgraded there?

To me, two things come to mind...

#1) I would like to see Tomorrowland, as a whole, be brought up to par with the rest of the lands and become just as aesthetically pleasing. Most complaints I hear from people are that it isn't as immersive, as far as looks, as the other lands. So, Disney could definitely spend some money here and give it a true facade-overhaul!

#2) The Indiana Jones Adventure needs some love as well. They could fix/update/upgrade/add to the different sets in there and really bring things up to par and restore them to like-new working condition. The ride is already one of the best in either park, but imagine how much better it could be with certain updates and upgrades.

Any thoughts/ideas on what Disney could or will do once the DCA overhaul is complete and they turn their attention back to Disneyland Park?

I think they may want to sit back and let the money roll in. LOL!

I actually thing buzz's astro blasters need a facelift or rethemeing. The aim/targets have never meshed up well and it's just starting to feel old.

I would like to see them recoup thier capitol investment in CA and not touch the rides I like for a couple of years. Immersive is a state of mind.

I'd like to see them do something with the peoplemover tracks in Tomorrowland! Next do something with innoventions... Then kill off toontown like they are doing at WDW! :thumbsup2

This is small but I'd like to see something done with the old, rotting chalet that used to be the Skyway entrance/exit.

I'd love to see them dump Toontown like they're doing in WDW. Not sure I'd say copy WDW, but a few of the new WDW features sound great...some not so much, lol. But Toontown just always seem so empty whenever we go in...and I gotta say we hit a few things and leave pretty quick ourselves.

Why dump toontown, when I am there it seems crowded with kids having a good time. What are those WDW features that so great.

I love Toon Town. I think it's one if not the only area of the entire DLP besides Fantasyland or the Main Street Cinema that you get brought into the world of "Classic" Disney. Personally I would love to see more "Classics".

However I will find the article that said once all the DCA construction is completed Disneyland has discussed taking the non used Cast Member only area that is behind Big Thunder Mountain (The walk way behind Big Thunder Mountain beside the Ranch that goes into Fantasyland) and expand Frontierland back there.

However I am kinda jealous that WDW is getting basically a meet and greet area designed for each princess. That would be pretty sweet.

When I read I though DLP=Disneyland Paris. I guess I have too much of a worldy view on Disney Parks.

Anway I agree with CrazyDuck's point. First fix what is there that they don't use.

Maybe, only maybe, something out of the old motor boat area, granted much of that area is repurposed except the dock. Sure it's a smoking area. But I would rather see it torn down and the water area themed, than use it as a "we have to stick the smokers somewhere" spot.

This is rumored a lot, and I would like to be able to walk around the ROA rather than dead end in Critter Country.

All in all, honestly if I was in charge almost all of the back stage area would be moved off site. Really besides a parade float storage, CM offloading point /costuming and a dock to unload food and merchandise, nothing needs to lie back there. Push the boundaries todward Disneyland Dr. and Ball Road.

Plus buy more land around the resort. TDA has been terrible about long term investments.

As the US population center moves west, it gets further from the giant WDW. If it continues more people are going to be closer to DLR.

But how many people does that really cater to? I can see expanding a bit because current area is small but wasting space on princesses when the area good be another major attraction does not seem right to me. Something like BBB for boys with a Star Wars theme or Toy Story would be a great revenue getter.

No I wasnt suggesting putting the Princesses in that little area behind Big Thunder. I am sure they could find a different solution for a different type of Meet and greet area for the princesses other then what they are building at WDW or what they currently have for Princess Fantasy Fair. PFF is great for little kids, and for adults to watch the little ones (Yes it's adorable) but its not really an area that everyone can go to. Personally I wanna go, but I avoid it. I dont want to wait in a long line up of children and take the moment away from them, nor do I want to pay to meet them at Ariels Grotto. Its not really fair that Adults dont have options to meet their idols that they grew up with too. Bottom Line. We shouldnt have to pay or stand in the way of a child to get a picture.

The area behind Big Thunder is small your totally right. I am not sure what they could do in there, which is why I think they want to expand Frontierland a bit and keep with the theme.

But BBB for Boys for a Star Wars theme would be really sweet. Agreed!

How is Toon Town "Classic" disney with Inspector Gadget Go Coaster and Roger Rabbit Cartooon Spin? Even Donalds Boat.. What is that about? The only reason we venture up there is for Mickey and Minnies house... The whole area just seems like an afterthought... What would be cool is if they leveled the whole place and built DVC villas up there and put another gate under the train station.. Awesome! :thumbsup2

Actually I really like Donald's boat. Even Goofy's house I kinda find it fun. The one thing I could do away with in Toon Town is the Go Coaster. But there are many touches of classic Disney in Toon Town, but its mostly over the music that plays in the area. The radio that plays in Mickey's house is the W.A.C.K.Y radio station which plays classic movies tunes, or talks about events that happened in movies, but even the music that plays elsewhere around Toon Town is all about the 3 Little Pigs, Steamboat Willy, Minnie's Yoo Hoo, Songs about Pluto etc. Unless your really into the area music and spend time listening to it, I wouldn't expect most people to know it. We all mostly just walk passed these things, take a few pictures and carry on not taking it all in. Which is why they need to put more more visuals into the park.

At least it's based on Disney Animation. Not that POTC, Space, HM and JC are bad, but they aren't rooted in the studios.

Inspector Gadget came from DIC Entertainment a French studio, Disney did do the live action movie of the cartoon. So not really "Rooted" in Disney, Plus I doubt Walt would have approved of Jessica Rabbit cause she's just too sparkley

If anything POTC is pretty rooted in the studios now.... more so than what Inspector Gadget did for Disney... ;)

Honestly I was always confused by the Inspector Gadget ride in Disneyland. Its the one thing that really throws things off for me. Even if Disney did the non animated IG movie, it still doesnt feel Disneyish to me.

I thought the same thing

Are you talking about the Go Gadget coaster? It's based on Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers...one of Disney's cartoon shows in the 90s.

Gadget go coaster has nothing to do with Inspector Gadget. Gadget was a character from "Chip & Dales Rescue Rangers" a Disney Afternoons show featuring Chip & Dale.

My son age 6 loves the big coasters. His favorites are Splash, SM & BTMRR but he still loves Gadgets Go Coaster too.

Don't take toontown from the little ones it is their land. Esp for more Vacation Villas as a PP said.

I can also add another please don't touch. The Tiki room! from everything I have heard the re-vamp at WDW ruined it.

They are spending money on DL even while re-vamping DCA. Star Tours 2 is opening this summer and they have been re-paving all over the park, Splash is in refurbishment....

As far as work on Tomorrowland maybe they need to do somthing like the "future from the point of view of" I know they did that with one of the foreign parks making it all from the Jules Verne era. Tomorrowland is sadly a land that hasn't been able to keep up with it's name from day one.

Would LOVE to see a BBB type attraction for boys Star Wars and/or toy story are great ideas!

Would love to see them add some lunch & dinner character meal experiences instead of just breakfast. It would allow you to enjoy the quiet morning hours and esp at lunchtime it would get some of the mad mid-day crush out of the lines LOL. What about a pirates meal at Cafe Orleans? A pooh & friends meal at the Hungry Bear? An afternoon tea with Mary Poppins characters at the Plaza? I have a million of those. The fact that there is only one character meal inside each park is sad.

I would also like to see the swiss chalet used in some way. What a sad waste of real estate.

How about the fort? I have fond memories of it as a child and now it is just a backstage area.

For the most part we all know DL will never be finished Walt said so. I am much more worried about the rumors that DLR will use its option for a 3rd park as a water park which so cal already has plenty of. Send us an EPCOT type experience instead.

I was really confused when people said Gadget's Go Coaster is after Inspector Gadget. I always thought it was after a Disney character named Gadget. After a quick look on Wikipedia, I was right. Here is what Wiki had to say:

"The ride is based on the work of the popular character Gadget Hackwrench from the 1989 Walt Disney Television Animation cartoon, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers. Gadget herself can be seen on top of a small weathervane on a building towards Chip and Dale's Tree House.

When you walk up to the front entrance, you'll see the sign for Gadget's "squirrel-made" coaster out of random items. Above the loading dock is a portrait of the rescue ranger on a postage stamp. The Go Coaster is primarily for children and therefore has very small cars. While two children can easily fit into a single car, most adults would have to travel alone (or with a small child). Guests board a train fashioned from acorns and scavenged parts.

Once on board, guests are treated to a safety spiel audio recording by Gadget herself (voiced by Tress MacNeille). Guests travel through Gadget's salvaged old comb, soup can and thread spool, and over a small lake. Near the end of the ride (the fastest turn), cartoony frogs squirt water at guests. The coaster comes to a stop and pulls into the station. Then, you all return to Toontown."

So, while the ride isn't classic Disney, it IS Disney from animation.

I would never have known! I always figured it was. :rotfl: Do I ever feel stupid now!!! Oh well. I never really watched the Rescue Rangers. I watched a few episodes here and there, but they became more popular in my early teenage years where I started growing out of Saturday morning cartoons which is when it came on for me.
