How long after signing can I make a reservation?

Hi All! I just sent back my signed paperwork today and I am wondering how long it will take to close & when will I be able to access points & make my first reservation.

If you bought from Disney directly, you can book right now...the points are already in your account. If i remember correctly, member services are open till 5 or 5:30...forgot which it was. If you bought resale, i've read that it takes about a week from returning the paperwork.

can you also bank points before you close - I am currently renegotiating my contract and I will have some points that i'll need to bank by the end of July - I am worried if I have to wait until closing it may be too late!!

Oh.. Forgot to add that you're able to book now at your home resort at 11 months, and any of the other DVC resorts at 7 months. Thought you may already know this, but thought i'd add it anyways.

If you are dealing with Disney, I have heard that they are pretty good about allowing banking of points beyond the deadline if you are a new member purchasing.

I would not worry about it, but mention it to your guide that your intent is to bank your points (I am assuming you are referring to the 2008 AKV) and you want to be sure that you will be able to do that before the deadline.

We made our reservations the first day we called and spoke to our guide, which was last Friday 6/12. They put our reservation as a pending til Monday and it was offificial Tuesday 6/16.

Call MS, they can give you everything you need over the phone. You can make a reservation and they can give you your Member web ID and login info.

We just made it official today, at least verbally, but our guide had already put a room on hold for us a couple days ago, just in case! She said they could hold it for 4 days. So we have an unofficial reservation, which should become official tomorrow, when we get our membership number. So, I'd call your guide or member services.
