How likely is a WL to come through 39 days away from trip?

We are leaving on May 8th for a week (Saturday-Saturday) and have a 1br at AKV. We are happy about it but decided this time, we wanted to eat out a lot more than we usually do, so we decided to try for a studio. They had every might but 3 Sun, Mon, and Fri, so I waitlisted but I have my doubts it would ever come through this late. Do people actually cancel at this point???

Would it work for you to try a split stay? ie, book the first 3 nights in an available studio at any property and keep the last 4 nights in the 1BR? Or vice versa?

We would have to stay in studio for Saturday night, move to a 1BR for Sunday and Monday, return to the studio Tues, Wed, Thurs and them move to a 1BR for Friday.

To much work for me. :)

lol - that would be a lot of work! It isn't quite what I meant though. If there is a studio available at another resort - such as OKW or SSR you could change your Sat-Mon nights to stay there and then move to AKV to the 1BR for the last 4 nights. Or, stay at AKV in the 1BR first and try and get the last 3-4 nights at a studio at any of the DVC properties. If you expand where you would stay then you might be able to save some points. :thumbsup2

And, if you changed to have the studio stay then you could also waitlist those nights for a studio at AKV and might get lucky with that. Then you'd have a few nights in a 1BR and a few in a studio.

Just some ideas.

I have had VWL open up once at 36 days. People do cancel. You never know, but I wouldn't count on it.

With the 30 day rule if you are going to get it it will likely be before the 30 day mark,

Just remember, that if your wait list is for LESS points than what you have booked now, those extra points will turn in to holding points if the wait list comes in 30 - 7 days before.

I am not sure how you set it up but if you don't want holding points, I would be sure the wait list cancels at day 31.

Good luck!

Yeah - we ende up canceling the waitlist for this very reason. I don't want points in a holding account so we are just staying with the 1BR. Not a big deal. We are just really excited to stay at AKV for the first time!:cool1:
