I was just wondering how late parents keep children around 5 years of age in the kids club at night? My son goes to bed between 7-8pm central time. I am just wondering how he is going to deal with staying at the kids club really late. My husband does not want to keep him out late but I think he will be able to handle it a few nights.

:wave2:

Our son was 5 a few years ago when we last cruised and he stayed there until 11 or 12 at night... we could barely tear him away from it. It is really tough to tell, we decided before our cruise that we would let him go late the first night and check in on him every hour or so and then see how he was the next morning. If he could handle the first night late then he could stay late the next and so on.. HTH:)

My son was 6 on our last cruise and he would be at the club late everynight. One night he fell asleep while watching a movie and woke up about 11:30 and was pretty freaked out..so they paged us and we went up and picked him up. As it turned out he just woke up and didn't know where he was and got scared, once we went there and he completely woke up he was OK and wanted to stay but by this point it was almost midnight, so we went back to the cabin. Had to pick up DD on the way and she was none too happy about that!! Her little brother ruined her night

We baically just let them do what they and we were comfortable with. My kids are both nightowls (like theri mother) so staying up late isn't a problem. Getting them to bed on school nights is a problem!!!:teeth:

My 5 year old son usually has an 8 pm bedtime (eastern) and he was in the club until 10 or 11 every night. My husband and I would get to the point where WE were ready for bed & even though the kids were all just laying down watching movies, he didn't want to leave.

He still woke up at 7 am every morning & was full of energy!!! We made it VERY clear to him that he would be going back to his regular bedtime when we got home!!

I think you are right, for a few nights he should be ok. Enjoy

We just returned and my 8 yr. old ds would freak out if we wanted to take him out early. The adult oriented shows don't start until 9:30 and it was great to know that the kids are in a fun and structured activity. My son learned quickly. He told us that we (his parents) are on vacation and to enjoy our time without him and that he'll be fine without us. The only time we were beeped it was to tell us that he banged his knee and they were putting some ice on it and that all was fine.

DD6 normally goes to bed between 8 - 9pm. On vacation we all take a short afternoon nap. On our past two cruises I've forced her to leave the club by 10 (once at 11pm-Daddy please let me stay!). I understand the clubs do stay open until 1 a.m.
