Since it was our first cruise we got up early(5:30 - 6:00) because we wanted to see each port as we came into it. I think we slept in only on 1 sea day til about 8:00. I did hear some people slept in til 11:00, but they'd been on lots of cruises before and didn't have all the things on their lists that we wanted to do.
We didn't sleep past 7 on a couple mornings. The rest we were all up by 6:30. DH still gets up around 5:30 on the cruise but enjoys his morning walks & he gets some great shots of the empty ship & sunrises.
I'm probably up by 7:30 (which is normally 6:30 for us 'central-timers.) I know I'm on a cruise and it's supposed to be a 'relaxing' vacation, but I'm so stimulated from BEING on DCL that it's impossible for me to 'sleep-in.' I do take a good nap on sea days.
My idea of vacation is waking up when I feel like it, and since I'm not a morning person that usually means NOT the crack of dawn (to me, 6 a.m. is the "crack of dawn" ha!). The first few days I'm usually tired from the hustle and bustle of getting ready for the trip (and time change) and sleep 'till between 8 and 9. We've been lucky enough to have a room w/verandah so we get room service breakfast or run up to Topsiders and bring some food back for a leisurely morning. Luckily, my nephew isn't a morning person either, so no problem there.
It depends on what excursions we have booked or what activities we want to do. If nothing is on the schedule, then whenever we wake up from sleeping in!
Most mornings I was up early, just like at home, between 5 and 6. My DW woke up around 8-8:30, our teenage DD is another story, we had trouble getting her up and out of the cabin by noon most days, LOL!!! Thank goodness our room host was very patient with us, he kept telling us, "Your on vacation, let her sleep, relax!!!"
Unfortunately vacation or not, working or not - my body is like an alarm clock. I start to wake up anytime from 5 am on. Once my mind is awake (cannot necessarily open my eyes), I can't stay in bed much. While everyone is sleeping, I put a wash in (yes - hate to do it, but perfect time), go for a walk, get coffee and go back to place wash in dryer. I obvioudly can't stay up late - Dh is usually right behind me - kids is another story
On our first cruise we had an inside cabin. It was the first time in 18 years that I had been "able" to sleep past 7am. I'm usually up as soon as I sense light. Since then it has been inside cabins for us and I sleep until 10 or so!
I'm to excited to sleep in. Each morning I was up at my usual time 6am, as I couldn't wait to take part in everything that was going on! Too afraid I would miss something. I would go and get my coffee, come back to the room , sit out on the verandah and enjoy the waves, water I found it very peaceful.
The rest of my family would sleep until 8am or whenever I made too much noise for them to sleep.
who loves to sleep in.
But I think on vacation I don't want to waste a single minute.
We were usually in bed 12-1AM, up around 7AM.
Happy cruising!
Kristin
Me and my DH we're honeymooners on our first cruise. After a Disney wedding spent by 4 days at the parks, we were exhausted. We went to bed around 11, would get up maybe 9:30 and then had a nap around 3 pm that lasted about two hours. Here's what I remember from our WONDERful DCL cruise, sleeping, hehe
