How Late Do you DIS ??? Dis @ Nite!!!

I'm sorry :( That stinks.
I hope you are able to work it out somehow.
You DO need a vacation!

C'est la vie (that's life). I am disappointed but I'll live. My main concern is for Dh to get better and we'll take it from there. He has an appt with the Bariatric surgeon on the 13th. We will discuss Lap Band surgery for him. I think once he gets some weight off it will help.

You're right, that is the main thing.
Maybe you can sneak away for a short weekend trip, somewhere close to home.

I'm hoping. For our anniversary in July. Even if it's Atlantic City.

Might I inquire as to what is wrong with him?

Sure. He has DVT and suffers from blood clots. He is young for this, 28. However he had knee surgery after a bad car accident years ago and didn't do the follow up exercises he was supposed to do. I don't mention this to pick on him I mention it for everyone having surgery who thinks the docs are just telling them they have to do that for no reason! Anyway the most recent development is a couple of blue toes on one foot. His is on blood thinners and via a blood test it was discovered he wasn't on a high enough dosage. They thought that was the problem. Though they said if doesn't get better go to the ER if you don't hear anything about the vascualr surgeon appt. Well we haven't heard from vascular, his toes are still blue and painful and so off we go to the ER tomorrow. He still has circulation because he can feel them and they aren't going purplish. We were told the was ok but not to leave it like that too long without seeing th vascular or going to the ER.

hahah Sorry you asked? I couldn't make it shorter. This is a multi year ordeal at this point!

This is a copy and paste. Better than I could tell it.

What Is Deep Vein Thrombosis?

Deep vein thrombosis (throm-BO-sis) is a blood clot that forms in a vein deep in the body. Most deep vein clots occur in the lower leg or thigh. They also can occur in other parts of the body.

If a clot in a vein breaks off and travels through your bloodstream, it can lodge in your lung. This is called pulmonary embolism (PUL-mo-ner-e EM-bo-lizm), which is a very serious condition that can cause death. Blood clots in the thigh are usually more likely to break off and cause pulmonary embolism than clots in the lower leg or other parts of the body.

A blood clot also can occur in veins that are close to the surface of the skin. This type of blood clot is called superficial venous thrombosis or phlebitis (fle-BI-tis). Blood clots in superficial veins are not dangerous because they can’t travel to the lungs.

Hope that helps. :-)

Very dangerous stuff, is what killed my dad as a result of chemo for cancer. The chemo caused a blood clot in the legs that traveled to the lungs.

I didn't reckonize the initials.

I hope he gets much better soon.

I am very sorry about your dad

Thank youfpr the well wishes. :) He does has a filter whih will keep anything that forms in the legs from moving up and becoming a danger. Still painful but it won't kill him. However if one forms elsewhere above the filter there is nothing to stop it.

Thanks, Dad passed back in Feb of 92. Sometimes I'll go a few weeks not thinking about him. As I was growing up I wasn't close with him. Once I got married and moved out we grew closer. We got to be very close, especially dealing with mom and her Alzheimer's.

Thats a whole nother story.

Good luck with the ER tomorrow.

Yep, 1am already! Hi all :grouphug:

Paigey so sorry hun. You know where I am if you need me.

Yep, and I nearly called night before last, but knew you'd been up all night and into the day.

You also know where to find me, my friend, should you have need.

Morning to all!:grouphug:

Myst, I hope everything goes well for you this morning. Please let us know how everything panned out!

Paige, you and your friends are still in my prayers...how are you doing today?!

Okay, off to get ready for the day...hope to talk to everyone tonight! :dance3:
