How last minute should I wait to book?

Hello! I am planning a last minute trip for the first week of November. I will be staying at one of the all stars, since I'm trying to save as much money as I can. Right now the rooms are sitting at around $141 a night...I don't imagine the prices will go down but I'm just wondering if anyone knows if they will possibly go up in price soon? I want to book but there is still a little bit of hesitation since I am coming from Canada, but if the price is likely to go up soon, I want to bite the bullet and book now. Any insight would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks!

I think the only reason a rate might go up would be if a lower rated category sells out. And even then, the rate is not really going up, it's just the lower rate rooms are gone. The standard rooms are the least expensive. If the standard room type books up, then there may only be more expensive upgraded views left. Disney normally sets their rack rates for their rooms for the year based on the season, then depending on occupancy, they might offer discounts. Once rates are published for the year, they don't *normally* raise them.

Do you have your tickets? There is always the possibility of park reservations reaching capacity. You cannot book park reservations until you have park tickets. That would be one concern and if you plan to have table service your most popular restaurants are likely already booked.

I agree the room costs at All Stars may not waiver but the resort may book for your dates and you woud have to look for a more costly option.

I don't have tickets yet. I plan to buy my annual pass once I make my hotel reservation, and pick it up once I'm down there. I have read that I'm still able to make park reservations with my AP before picking it up in person. I don't think I'll do any table service this trip, since it's a short, last minute (solo) trip, and I'm also wanting to save money.

I booked a few days ago for a solo trip the first week of November. I agree that the lowest category of room may sell out putting you into a more expensive room. I’m actually going to stay at the Dolphin on an AP rate. It’s cheaper than a Mod but more than a Value resort. That’s my splurge. I don’t think you need to worry about park reservations as you could book under hotel guest bucket or AP bucket. Plus there seems to be plenty of availability. ADRs were limited but that shouldn‘t matter to you. I've got my AP purchased but will activate there like you.

If you book your room separately cancelling and modifying is no problem. Moreover, if you call a the Disney number (may be on hold for a couple of hours) then they will wave your cancellation/change fees as long as you have a replacement reservation on site and can demonstrate you are still going (at least that is what I was told and what they have done for me so far.) Therefore, you should book your best option now, and continue looking as you feel is appropriate.

I have been reading about people finding very little availability in November. I don't know if that's still the case or not. I wouldn't wait with it being so close. November next year could wait though.

Thats how it used to be. But starting about 5 years ago, they have raised the rates, unannounced more than once a year. Posters here have noticed it when researching before booking a trip. So OP, you should be fine waiting. But there is no guarantee.

The up or down of the cost would worry me far less than the actual availability of rooms. I'd book it when you see it.

Not only that, but waiting to have the ability to reserve park tickets means your park of choice could be sold out as well. Especially since they come out of whichever bucket you are going to use.

Availability changes pretty regularly and hasn't been great, so I would book the resort as soon as possible. You can always cancel if you decide not to take the trip. Room only cancelation is up to 5 days before your trip I believe for full refund.

Since you are booking room alone, I’d book now. If you see prices go down, as long as it’s still within the allowed days to cancel with no penalty, you can book a second room at the lower price and then cancel the first. Yes, I’ve done this multiple times.
