How judgmental are you?

I can't stand and look down upon people who start threads about being judgemental. ;)

Well! I never!

:snooty: :snooty: :snooty:

I'm pretty judgmental. I'm a huge intellectual snob, and I'm pretty quick to judge people who have opinions I find morally wrong.

It's not the best aspect of my personality, but it doesn't really keep me up at night. I'm pretty comfortable with my assesments of people.

The things that I judged people on the most in my younger adult years were all things that happened to me later in life. I believe it was payback and a harsh lesson to learn! I was so black and white back then. I definitely am not that judgemental now, but whenever I feel myself judging someone, I just remind myself that if I don't stop that could be me in a few years!

Interesting thread Marseeya!

I do see a difference in having definate opinions and being judgmental.

Wishy-Washy would be a person who does not have a framework of definate opinions.

Having a strong framework of opinions does not necessarily make one judgmental.

It is always being quick to apply your opinions to others... that is the judgment part.

In otherwords, having that strong framework for yourself is just for yourself. How can that be considered judgmental? We all make judgments every single day. A strong foundation or framework is a good thing. And, does not necessarily constitute being judgmental.

It is when we apply our parameters negativity to others, that is how I define judgmental.

Ohhhhh,
after having said all of the above...

I do have a very strong framework of opinions.

I try to not let this cross over into being judgmental.
However, there are a couple of topics where that becomes very hard to do!

I am VERY judgmental when it comes to people who feel that they have the self annointed right to impose their judgments and their control on others. People like this who are self-righteous.

I will be judgmental of a person who does this in a heartbeat.

Hey, I guess that qualifies as being judgmental of others who come off as judgmental!!!

If your child has a meltdown I can deal with it. But if you don't at least make an attempt to remove the child to an area where he will be less disruptive and out of the overstimulation that possibly caused the meltdown to begin with (a quiet spot in a garden or other more out of the way spot), then I'm going to judge you to be a parent who can't be bothered parenting. (See above post about stupid people)

Anne

So, if she doesn't follow what YOU believe to be good parenting...than she is either a parent who couldn't be bothered parenting or stupid? :confused3 That's pretty judgmental :rotfl2:

I don't care for in your face religious or political people. I also tend to prefer more laid back then uptight people. Just my preference. Too many peopel take themselves too seriously.

Not at all. Good parenting doesn't allow a seven year old to have a temper tantrum in a public place and not try to at least move the child to a more secluded area where they are less likely to disturb others. It's not only good parenting, but also good manners and common sense.

To allow a seven year old to melt down and not do *something* about it is not only poor parenting but rude, and yes, most likely stupid because then the child is getting exactly the attention they are looking for!

I can't stand STUPID people. I'm not talking about mentally challenged individuals. I'm talking about people who have an average IQ and are just STUPID. I'm not talking about an occasional "my bad", we all make mistakes.

I'm talking about people who constantly do STUPID things to mess up their lives or the lives of others around them, and never learn by their mistakes, and then whine about their personal situation incessantly and/or expect everyone else to fix it for them.

Of that I'm VERY judgemental.

And now I shall suffer the wrath of my nine year old neice, the "Bad Word Police" who does not like the word Stupid.

Anne
I'm the same way! I cannot tolerate stupid people and it sometimes makes me be nasty to them because it drives me insane!

I don't tend to be judgemental. Some people see me as being a softy. I do my best to look at things from another person's perspective. I'm not even very good at sticking up for myself. However, I will not stand back and let someone hurt someone else. If you attack someone, I will be the defender of the underdog.

I am going to say this and hope it makes sense.

I am judgemental in the sense that I am black, and when I see some other minorities blacks included that act in negative ways (such as ghetto, on welfare, loud, lazy, whatever the general stereotypes are) and I get judged with everyone else as being that negative person, although, I am far from it.

I am also judgemental of people that think they can get away with certain things just because of the color of their skin. Skin doesn't really matter, it's all in the personality, although some people don't see it like that. I am judgemental of those people.

I was raised in a very sheltered life and I am just now learning how the world works and what some people truly think of me just because of who I am. It bothers me.

On that note to avoid getting flamed by certain people over from the Walmart thread, I say no more.

I try not to be too judgemental. That often causes hurt feelings. If I have a different opinion of others I usually try to keep that to myself also unless it is something I feel real strong about.

I'm white, so some may feel I don't have a right to judge what black people go through. Maybe so. But I do have a huge problem, and judge people who use the "race card" when it's obvious that it doesn't exist. I'm not denying racism exists, far from it. But I think it cheapens the cause when people like OJ and Terrell Owens are said to be the victims of race.

I'm unapologetically judgmental when it comes to hypocrisy. I can't stand a hypocrite!

I see it mostly with the radical right in this country. They are very interested in telling the rest of us how to live our lives, but then they all have dirty little secrets in their closets.

::yes::

Don't you just love people who have led questionable lives in the past, but have come to "see the light" and are doing their darnedest to make sure the rest of us do as well?

Oh sure, it was okay for THEM to have a little fun, but the rest of us sure can't. :rotfl2:

I really try hard not to be judgemental of others. DH and I were talking about this exact subject last week. Someone else judged us regarding something we had no control over and it really bothered me (it still does). He admitted that he tended to do exactly what this person did to us to others, yet I don't.

Well, I'm going to make a judgment...Your two dogs are so cute, that I bet they know it and think that they can get away with anything! :goodvibes
