How is WDW in June?

June in WDW is hot and humid. How bad-well-take our typical ugly July/August days, you know those really ugly ones-now make it worse. Typical weather in summer in WDW is high 80's to mid 90's with dewpoints in the 70-77 range. That's pretty bad. Now, we've been there several times in June, it can be done. May, especially earlier in the month is still quite hot, but usually not as humid. The problems with WDW is that when the temp is comfortable, it's either school time or a major holiday. If you can't miss school, go as early in June as possible, the weather is not much different, but the crowds are much better. If you decide to go during the school year, I would suggest the first 2 weeks in December, some of the nicest and quiestest times of the year. Just avoid Thanksgiving week, the week after is great.
If you do go in summer, you need to plan around the heat. Get up early, and hit the parks at opening. It's cooler(relatively) and least crowded. Sometime around 12-2 LEAVE the park. Go back to the hotel/condo and swim, nap and enjoy the a/c. Go back to the parks in 3 or 4 hours, you'll miss the most crowded and hot time of the day. Evenings are slightly cooler, and less sun, it helps. Bring water bottles and drink til it hurts. By the time your thirsty down there, you're starting to dehydrate. It will rain, at least a little, every day. Usually the skies darken and the monsoon will start, and last mabye 30-60 minutes. Then it will be even muggier after(:
There are compensations to going in June, the parks have longer hours, with parades and fireworks often running every night, sometimes twice a night. Early June is also the end of the Flower and Garden Expo at Epcot, very cool. Despite the heat, we're planning another trip in June 2006. My sister's kids need to go during summer vacation, so off we go again. Here's a link to the weather averages in Olando These are the monthly averages, you can change it to the daily averages, which also shows the record highs and lows. Gives you a good idea what you're heading into. My feeling is, a hot humid trip to WDW is better then none. Just plan well for it.

How is the weather May through September? It's like walking on the surface of the sun...only Mickey is there. ;)

We finally made the decision to go the first week of June. Thank you everybody for helping us to make that decision. We really appreciate all of your input. You guys are terrific. We both feel that June would be our best option since Christmas was a little too costly (not to mention the crowds) and we didn't want to take the kids out of school in January. It also gives us an opportunity to save up some more money for the trip. :teeth:

Mkaz - when are you going in June and where are you staying? We're there from 6/3 - 6/11 at the Contemporary.

We are planning to go June 4th to the 10th. We haven't made a decision on exactly where we would like to stay just yet.

Have been to WDW many months, and found June to be crowded and the wettest month. The rain was confirmed by a FL resident as being particularly persistent around June as compared to any other month. June would be the last month I would now consider vacationing there.

We have been going to WDW during early June every year since 2002 and have generally found the weather and the crowds very manageable. It is hot but we are from Texas so we are used to hot weather. It typically rains every day--usually in the afternoon for about 15-20 minutes but then the showers pass and the sun comes right back out. The only time we really find the crowds annoying is at MK when we watch Spectro and Wishes. We try to stake out a spot about 2 hours before--that way we can be near the exit so we can make a quick escape :flower: We will be there 6/4-6/15--hope to see ya'!!

HOT!

Yes it rained. It would rain for a bit and stop. l Then it would looked like it didnt even rain! We took our rain gear into the parks evey day. Didnt stop us a bit!

We have gone is June twice. The crowds are manageable. We did have to stay late in the MK one night to avoid the lines and heat during the day. I would play to go in early leave for the afternoon and come back during the evening on a extra hours night ( if you are staying on site).

The buses had a very long wait after the parks close.

This is a busy time of the year. I would get to the parks before they opened. Go right to your favorite ride. I couldnt get my family up that early!
I warned them Id be leaving at 7:30am. If they did not get up they could call me when they did. Well... I got up, got ready and headed to Epcot.
I was one of the first people in. I got to see there little opening ceremony.
Very cool! When they dropped the rope, everyone was speedwalking to there favorite attraction. I couldnt keep up! LOL I went right to Sorin
and got on right away. When I was exiting the ride, I looked back and saw there was already an hour wait!

I proceeded to go right on fasttrack and mission space with NO wait.

Then I got the call from the kids! "Mom! I cant believe you left without us!"

I told them!!

WDW in June is HOT HOT HOT!! We went in June 1989 and I still remember the heat beating on my head, the humidity, the stickyness... Complicating matters, my Dsis got heatstroke, my Dbrother came home with pneumonia, and my Ddad got terribly ill also--(we later learned that he has relapsing/remitting MS which in his case is triggered by heat, among other things).

WDW in June is also seriously crowded. If this time is your only option, and you think you can take the heat, then go for it, but if you have the opportunity to go at another time, it might be preferable, IMHO. I would not go back to Disney in the summer even if it was free!

Liamsaunt, you took those words right out of my DHs mouth!!

You can see on my signature we went in June 2004, June 2005 now
Dec 2006!

My family couldnt take the heat!! They wanted to leave the parks the minute we got there and go back and swim!

My kids were crabby and crying to go swimming. Wed go back to the room to shower and swim. Then go back to the parks in the evening. Really, by the time we got from our room to the bus stop we were SWEATIN' already!!

My DH said never again in June! Hed rather take the kids out of school or go on winter break. Some of the bus drivers didnt turn on the a/c!! They are used to the heat, they just didnt walk 10 miles in the sun...lol

I have to laugh, reading these posts about the heat. We're planning to go the last two weeks in June, and I can't wait.

We lived in TN for over 10 years, and got used to the heat and humidity. As I sit in the office of my home in Chicago and look out the window at the snow flurries, I am SO EAGER to get to WDW in June.

Now where did I put my mittens?

I like going in June too! My family hates it.

Were going in December and Im afraid it will be to cool to swim.

We are not planing on going to the water parks, that we ALL love!

Im worried we wont be able to any rides in the parks that you get wet on.

At least the parks will be all decorated for Christmas, Im excited about that!

By the way, its SNOWING IN CLEVELAND TODAY!

Thanks everyone. Now we can prepare ourselves for the scorching heat. :rotfl2: Well, at least we can prepare a little anyway. June is our only option at this point so we would rather take it than leave it. After we return from vacation my husband is booked solid for the next two years. :cool1:

Due to granddaughter's dance recital, I am thinking of trying to schedule a trip, arriving during Memorial Day weekend and staying through June 3.

Can anyone tell me what the CROWDS are like during this time? I have a feeling the first part of the week (Memorial Day) may be very crowded, but does it slack off after that day for the rest of the week?

They are 6 and 3, and we have always been in May, September, October and December (first week) when the crowds are low...just wondering.....

We are looking at the same time frame. I do think it stays pretty crowded from Memorial Day on simply because kids are getting out of school and people want to go before it gets truly, truly sweltering.

Heads up about the first weekend in June -
Gay Days starts June 1 and ends June 4. According to the website they have upwards of 40,000 attendees. I am trying to get confirmation that there really ARE that many people who attend. Just be aware that whichever park the Gay Day folks are in will be very crowded. They designate one park each day for 4 days. Also, MGM has Star Wars weekends and Epcot has the Flower and Garden festival all going at that same time.

I think if you get started early each day and have a good plan you should be fine. :)

if your healthy, the weather/heat won't be an issue,, just drink water when you can to stay hydrated,, water, not soda,,
