How is this rate from Budget?

I just got a rate of $176 for December 12-19 from Budget on a full size car including all taxes using the Entertainment book cupon when I called them. However on Internet I'm getting a rate of $236 for the same exact dates. What gives? I booked it because it seems like a really good price but I'm afraid that they will change the rate when I get there. Should I be woried or should I be happy with the rate I got?

We just used Budget for a rental in early October and they were great. We have a March 2004 trip planned. Today I went out and priced three different cars with a discount code from sams on line. When I called Budget I was able to get the same rate as I was quoted on line and made the reservation. When I went out to print my reservation I was playing around and tried another reservation with NO code and it was CHEAPER! Whats up with that? Then I noticed they had charged me more for one of the cars then what I had been quoted on line. When I called back they said o well you will have to book on line. I do not give out my CC on line and am still mad about the rate being cheaper without the coupon. So I checked with Avis and they have even better rates. So We might be switching unless Budget will match Avis or honor the on line rate.

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles Padre Disney. I never rented from Budget and was a little bit weary of the fact that no one on this board jumped in to back them up so I went to National web site and started playing around with their reservations and different coupons. Well, I ended up with a rate of $146.00 with all the taxes for a full size car. I haven't canceled the Budget reservations yet but I think I will do just that. I remember reading a lot about National on this board and most feedbacks wore positive. Now that I hear your feedback it makes me a sure that I'm making the right decision.

I have rented from Budget numerous times with no issues.

It is possible that the computer is NOT giving you the right discount which could explain the difference. The other option is that if there was a time lag between your original reservation and your on line check that the rates have gone up, but you should get the rate you were quoted. I have gotten better rates by phone from Hertz several times since sometimes the agent is helpful and gives me discounts I might not know about.
