Afternoon tea at the GF? It will be myself, 2 dds (18 and 15) and my dh.

It's absolutely wonderful. We've done it about 4 times and it's a nice, relaxing hour or so. We usually get the Grand Tea which comes with sparkling wine, but the Buckingham is nice too.

If you don't like everything that's included in the packages, you can order ala carte.

Everyone gets their own pot of tea. We usually all get something different and then share.

I just made reservations for my birthday in September..:lovestruc

Ditto. :thumbsup2

A very nice experience.

We like it a lot. Even DH likes it. The atmosphere is nice. The food is good, but the portions are not large. DH considers it more of a snack than a meal. The strawberries and cream are absolutely delicious.

Thanks for this thread. I just made reservations for there for myself, my two DDs (5 & 6) and my mother. She is from Scottland, and afternoon tea is something she really loves. As well as all the food that comes along with it. I can't wait for this!!!

Don't mean to hijack.... When we go, I would love for my mother and I to get The Grand Tea. But for my 5 & 6 year olds... not so much. I'd much rather get them the Sally Lunn Tea or the Mrs. Potts Tea. Is it possible to do this?

Also, for the Mrs. Potts Tea - it says it comes with chocolate milk. My girls can't have that, so I'm wondering if they could still get real tea with this package?

TIA

I've been more than a few times and it's wonderful. Very relaxing. Everyone orders their own package or ala cart items, so you each get your own tea pot. I usually order the Buckingham or Grand, depending on if I want a drink or not. The waitresses are very accommodating and all seem to have a genuinely gentle way about them. So they are happy to substitute items for you, for example I usually get two pear gorgonzola sandwiches as I don't care for shrimp.

I think it's a great experience for Grandmother/Mother/Daughters, a few close friends, even a couple. However probably not suited for impatient little boys. Like mine. :rotfl:

The amount of food is surprisingly quit filling. I usually get a snack (like a dole whip float - MMMmmmm) around normal lunch time before I take tea. And afterwords I tend to have a later than normal dinner as well.

Go. And have a wonderful time! :thumbsup2

You can get whatever you want. We ordered off the menu (a la carte) when we went but you will be able to get different tea orders for each of you. Talk to your server and they will work with you for sure.

Does the Grand Tea have certain restrictions? I didn't know that everyone had to order the same thing... am I mistaken?

We LOVED this expereince. I was with my mom, and sister and my two DDs which were 6 and 3mo at the time. It was just lovely. My favorite was the strawberries and cream!!!

Enjoy!:goodvibes

Thanks for the info! I'm thinking that my mother and I will get The Grand Tea each, and I'll let my girls share one Mrs. Potts Tea and maybe we will get one ala cart item as well.
I truely can't wait for this :cloud9:

ETA - How many cups comes in each pot of tea?

I can't imagine needing 2 pots of tea. It seemed like plenty of tea in one pot for one person.

I found ordering a la carte so easy. Everyone could pick and choose and then when you see things go by, ask your server and you can try it if you want. Our bill wasn't much over $65 either I don't think and that was ordering whatever we wanted for 3 adults and one child. Perfectly worth it for the experience we had.

You'll love it!:lovestruc
