We will be staying at the Swan when we have tickets to the Hoop. I plan on taking the bus to MK, then boat over to FW (we'll leave the Swan at 3pm for the 5pm show). If we get there early, we'll just hang out.

My question is how is the transportation back? I've heard it's tough. Do they have busses that go right to the resorts? Would it be best to take the boat back over to MK and bus home from there? Would it be quicker to take a TAXI?

Thanks for any insight.

Karen

Can't help you with getting back to the Swan but...When we did the HDDR in June, we also went to the 5:00 show. After the show we hung out at FW for a while - went into the petting zoo, checked out the store, etc. When we left, there was still a line for the boat to the MK so we took the boat to the Contemporary and hopped on the monorail to the Poly. You could do the same with the monorail to the MK.

How long is the HDDR? If it is over in time, you can go to the FREE campfire sing-along at Fort Wilderness at 7 or 8pm. Not sure what time they start for the time of year you are going. You can call FW and find out. It is a sing-along program where the kids can meet chip and dale then after that they show a free disney movie. You can roast marshmallows and make smores. You can take your own supplies for the roast or buy supplies there at the chuck-wagon. The over all program gets over around 10pm depending on how long the movie is that night. Someone usually posts a link on this forum for the movies each month. Not sure about the bus system; I know you would take an internal bus to the outpost at the entrance to the campground where you would get on another bus which goes to other disney areas. Again, call FW to see if they can tell you if any of those buses at their stop go to the Swan.

SORRY! I thought I was on the camping forum (not trans) you can find more info about the campfire program in the camping forum!!!

I've heard from some people on this board that they've gotten direct-to-resort buses from HDDR, but that's not the official line and was not our experience last fall. We had to catch an internal FW bus from Pioneer Hall to the Outpost, catch a second bus from there to DTD, then catch a third bus to our resort (CBR) from there. Not the most efficient, but it wasn't too bad.

We go to the 9pm HDDMR every time we go to WDW. When we come out of the show, the busses for all the various resorts and one for DTD are waiting down at the bus stop. We just walk down there and get on our bus and go back to our hotel.

I don't know if it is different for the earlier shows, but, we have never had a problem with WDW transportation for the late one.

As far as I know, the resort buses only run for the last show of the night.

Tyler!!

Have you gone back to be one of the guys in the Purple Pants??!!!

As to the original posters question, the early shows usually end early enough to catch the boat back to Magic Kingdom, and from there it is easy enough to catch a bus back to your resort.

As a matter of fact, if you are staying at the Swan, and have used your park tickets that day, the fastest way for you would be to take a bus from the Settlement Depot to the TTC, then take the monorail to Epcot and walk through Epcot, out the International Gateway, then walk or take the boat to the Swan.

If the Studios is still open, you could take a bus to the Studios, then walk or take the boat to the Swan.

Well Carol, I like your idea except that I'll have three little kids (4, 6 & 8) that have been up since 5am that morning so I don't know if they will be up to walking through Epcot. I'd like it, but...

Maybe I will try the boat back to MK, maybe we'll time it right to see Wishes. Then we'll just take the bus back to the Swan. It'll be a long night, but I hope well worth it!

We went to the 7:10 show last November, they had direct resort busses after the show.

We took a car to the out post then a bus to the hall. In the past we ate at the late show and the bus to all the resorts were there. This show is great My 7 year old love it we have to go every visit
