How is the Steak at Pepper Market?

My family and I just switched September reservations from All Star Sports to Coronado Springs. :cool1: I saw that the Pepper Market is considered a counter service meal for the purpose of the Dining Plan. My husband and I were very excited to see that they offer steak as a CS entree. I was wondering of those who have tried it, what is your opinion of the steak?

* What cut of beef?
* How many ounces?
* Is it made to order or already prepared?
* Is it marinated or does it have a sauce?
* How does it compare to other restaurant steak? (Comparable to a Golden Corral, Sizzler, or Outback Steakhouse?)
* Anyone have a picture?
* Would you recommend it?

Thanks for your help!!!:flower3:

The steak at the Pepper Market is not like Outback - not that large. As I recall, it was a thin ribeye. Tasty. They cook it right there. I don't have any photos.

My husband enjoyed it, but I'd not pay what they charge for it either (on the DDP it was a good value).

Don't know the answers to your specific questions, but we've eaten the steak at Pepper Market several times and really enjoyed it. We highly recommend it!

Here's what I wrote about my steak at Pepper Market last August:

The chef’s special was a gouda cheeseburger with roasted red peppers, and it looked appealing. But I decided I’d go with the ribeye since it was on the DDP. It came with roasted veggies and either fries or mashed potatoes with gravy, and I ordered mine with fries.

...

My ribeye came off the grill in about 7 minutes and I sat down to eat. It was a thinnish cut and it would’ve been easy to overcook it, but it was a perfect medium-rare and a nice cut of meat, with no gristle as some inferior cuts have. The fries were fresh and hot. The roasted veggies were red pepper, squash and eggplant, and they were not good. They were lukewarm and had no flavor. I ate the peppers and left the rest.

The steak is disgusting, as is everything else at Pepper Market.

Don't make a special trip, it is hardly worth it if you are staying there.

The gouda cheeseburger with roasted red peppers sounds wonderful! Yet it is not available on the Dining Plan? :confused3

Sorry--I didn't word that very well, did I?

The gouda cheeseburger was on the DDP, as were all the entrees in Pepper Market. But the steak was a really good value (just 1 CS credit for an entree that would've cost $19.95 OOP) so I went with that.

Thanks for the info! I hope they have the "gouda burger" on the menu when we arrive at CSR in a few days! It sounds delish! :thumbsup2

My DH had steak and enjoyed it...it's sure not Wolfgang Puck's but it was pretty good. We really liked Pepper Market!

Also had the ribeye. Agree with PP that it is a thin cut steak but still tasty. It is cooked to order, plain (not marinated) and probably about 8 oz. Not Outback but not Golden Corral either. We ordered it medium and it was not overdone. I would think twice at $19.95 from a counter service restaurant but with the dining plan it makes it a very good deal considering you will also get a TS meal for the day.

We will be going in October and staying at CSR and doing dining plan. We plan on going to Pepper Market on the first night, probably having the ribeye and not do a TS that day. Then we will use the last TS credit on checkout day.

That is our plan as well when we arrive this Thursday. :thumbsup2

I had the steak back in November. It was "pretty good" but nothing special...probably a little better than Golden Coral but not as good as Outback. It is, however, a good value considering it's a CS credit.

A lot of evenings they have Prime Rib as the chefs special and it has always been good when we had it there also, the grilled tuna steak is decent if you can convince them not to cook it well done. There are a LOT of good choices at the Pepper Market and while I would not go in expecting 5 star cuisine...for a counter service place it is really nice and has a huge variety.

My DH really enjoyed his steak that he got from the Pepper Market, so much so we are eating here again in September.

Thanks for all the replies! :hippie: I am really looking forward to a CS steak on the free dining plan ... especially if it is better than Golden Corral (which I am not fond of at all). That picture looks yummy!

Yes on the DDP it's a CS.

Have to vote with Cheryl on this one. We didn't try the steak, but what we did have was disappointing. We only went once.
