We have always thought that the atmosphere in there was so neat, but we've never tried it before. I'm thinking about making an ADR there, but I would love some opinions first!
TIA!

The atmosphere, as you said, is great. I LOVED the atmosphere, it was dark and just very Disney neat!

However, the food was just decent. It wasn't bad, don't get me wrong! It just was not great.

I do suggest going there at least once though, because the experience at any Disney restaurant, IMO, is worth at least one visit. :lovestruc

Atmosphere is great - a little too dark; we could barley read the menu :goodvibes . But I loved the surroundings.
Tables are very close together, service was not that great.
I ate there once with my sisters...we were not crazy about it at all.
Glad I tried it but would not eat there again.
Keep in mind this is my opinion and my experience.
I am sure you will find mixed reviews. It could be a great dining experience with some changes.

The atmosphere is wonderful. We have been many times and the food is just ok for us, nothing outstanding but not bad either. My husband wants to go there in October for his 40th birthday because he thinks the atmosphere can't be beat to celebrate!

The atmosphere is great, I like eating by candle light, it is hard to read the menu but kinda already knew what I was going to get by checking out the All-ears menus. Last 2 years we went in Sept. on the DDP and our service was really pretty good. Food is ok , it's not Le Cellier in quality of steak but either is Le France. I'm not sure what is considered real Mexican food so if it's not then it's not I have nothing to compare it to other then a few Mexican restaurants in PA and that may not be real Mexican either. I would also go at least onse and give it a try.

Some of the worst service that we have ever had a any resturaunt, not just at WDW. Skip it.

We have ADRs for August and were wondering the same thing. I've been reading mixed reviews.

The atmosphere as you said was awsome. The food is middle of the road. I enjoyed it tho.

There's always going to be mixed reviews. Some people are going to give it a :thumbsup2 and some people are going to bash it so hard that you'd think they had a rat served to them on their plate, so I think the best advice is to try it yourself so you can form your own opinion. IMHO San Angel Inn is all around wonderful from the atmosphere to the food. People tend to say that the food is mediocre and they could find better mexican cuisine in a restaurant at home, but I seriously doubt that the atmosphere is there. I go to San Angel for the atmosphere and the food. I'm a big fan of the Sope Tradicional, I think it's a delicious appetizer and it goes without saying that I love the atmosphere. I think sitting in the dark, being able to watch the ride while you eat is awesome. In the past when we've eaten there, we've been able to hear the Mariachi band play too which is an added bonus.

A little dark but nice place. The service is either good or very slow. They do have good margarita's. I think it's a place to try at least once.

Food there has never been anything to rave about & service has been consistently poor....even though I like to rotate where I eat on my way around the lake, I seem to do San Angel least frequently b/c I'm least happy with it, so I just ate there about a month ago and will happily wait until I either hear about major changes to it, or another 2 years, before I return to try it again...

It's one of those that I love the concept of, and the location, but I consistently leave it disappointed. To that end, I'd suggest a different choice...

We were there last year. My daughter wanted to go because she thought it was beautiful inside. And it was. The atmosphere is great! The ceviche appetizer was fantastic, and so was the margarita, but neither my husband, myself or my daughter liked our entrees -- and we had each ordered something different. After trading plates a couple of times to no avail, we gave up. Wouldn't go there again, although we'll go to the Cantina for a margarita! :)

I second that!

my motto is "try anything at least once". I like the restaurant. I think it is romantic and the food is good. It is not the best mexican food i've ever had but it is definitely worth a try. I wouldn't bring kids though, it is really dark.:flower3:

We have been for both lunch and dinner @ San Angel Inn and enjoyed both times. We are also going back for dinner this March.

Atmosphere is great, particuliarly if a mariachi band is playing, but the food is OK, perhaps a little better than chain Mexican restaurants. I actually like the outside Cantana de San Angel counter service better and usually get the wet burrito right before Illuminations.

One of my personal favorites. I love the atmosphere, love the food too. I have no complaints whatsoever about the place.:thumbsup2

We absolutly LOVE San Angel Inn!! Have been several times. Its a beautiful restaurant! We have never had a bad meal there. Even our kids request to go there (ages 9 and 12 now but have been going since they were really young) We took my Mom (her first time) this past November and she loved it. :thumbsup2

lalalalalalala lalalalalalala..."I can't hear you"! (to those making negative remarks) lalalala lalalalala Love the place! :goodvibes
