I've heard that there is a new princesses breakfast at Norway. Can someone who has been both to this one and the famous breakfast at Cinderella's castle please compare the two?

Thanks.

While I haven't been to the one in Cinderella's castle (making those PS is such a hassle), we did go to the one in Norway 2 weeks ago.

We LOVED it! We were seated right away. We had a 8:50 PS and were seated at 8:40. The inside of Akersaus looks just like a medeval castle. The service was fantastic! The management came around to the tables to make sure everything was going as it should. The food was very good. When you are seated there is fresh fruit and various sweet rolls and biscuits on the table. Then the server comes with fresh orange juice ( you can get grapefruit juice, as well), and takes you drink order. About 5-10 minutes after you get your drinks, they brink a large skillet to your table with eggs, french toast, bacon, sausage, and cheddar cheese potatos. The eggs were cooked too hard for us, but everything else, especially those potatos, were delicious.

The princesses start at the front of the dining area, and they are staggered, so no 2 get hung up at the same table at the same time. We preferred sitting in the middle to the back, so DD could eat before they got to us. When we went, it was Snow White, Aurora, Belle, Mary Poppins and Jasmine. I have heard that Alice in Wonderland sometimes makes an appearence, and there can be anywhere from 4 to 6 characters, depending on which characters are available on that particular day. We were there on a Friday. The characters all are VERY good, take a lot of time with you, posing for pictures and signing autographs. It is in no way rushed feeling, as I have heard it is at Cinderella's Royal Table.

Personally, if I had to choose between this and Cinderella's, I would choose this one, for the ease of getting PS, the variety of characters, the service, the food, the feeling of not being rushed. Also, if you are going before Dec 30, make sure to go, as they still haven't made up their minds as to whether this will be permanent, so it could be a once in a lifetime event!

We ate at CRT in Feb and at the new breakfast on Aug 16th. At CRT I felt like I was packed in like a sardine! Difficult to get up to take the photos of my dds with the princesses. At the Storybook Breakfast, I had no problem getting up to take photos, bathroom trips, etc.

As for the food, I enjoyed the food at the Storybook breakfast more. It was served family style, as opposed to plated. This way I was able to serve myself what I liked, vs eat what I was given. I don't eat eggs, so I was able to enjoy the french toast, bacon, and potatoes. We requested more bacon and had no problem getting it. I also enjoyed the Norweigan servers.

It was a great experience eating in the castle and I'm glad we did it. Would I get up for days on end at 5:45AM to book it again - no.

we enjoyed both equally....if your heart is set on seeing cinderella though you should try for the castle. According to cast members at the story book breakfast..."cinderella is unable to leave her castle as she has important matters to attend to"

Thanks everyone. It sounds like my 3yo would enjoy this as she is not fixated on Cinderella in particular. Do you know what the protocol is for obtaining a PS? Is it a *royal* pain like getting one for the castle? We are going down the last week in October, is it to late to get one?

Thx.

invalid_char, I called last night to check on availability for the last week of October for
the Storybook Princess breakfast. We have a party of 11 and they had availability for 3 tables of 4 (the biggest tables they have, she said) at several different times on Tues, Wed, and Thursday, October 29-31. As some of our party may decide not to go, I may end up canceling one or two tables later on. So I would guess at this point that your chances are pretty good. (I did use the Disney Club dining reservations number, but doubt that you'd experience much different if you used the regular line.) Good luck!;)

It is a 120 day PS. They are currently taking PS's throught Dec 31 at that 120 day mark :)

No, we had absolutely no problems whatsoever getting the Storybook Princess Breakfast! Instead of that 60 day window, it is a 120 day window, and you don't have to put down a deposit, either! Just call (407) WDW-DINE and tell them when you will be there, and they will hook you up!

We attended this breakfast last week; it was great! We had an 8:30 priority seating. We arrived about 8:20, checked in at the podium. A few minutes later the CM asked my youngest daughter if she would like to be the "Princess of the Day". They gave her a cape and wand to use to "magically" open the doors of the restaurant. When the doors opened the staff sang a song to her in Norwegian. She received a cardboard princess hat and they suggested that she have all the princesses sign it. We were seated at the first table and the princesses came to our table first. It was truly a magical moment for her.
The food was good, servers very nice, kept offering more food.
We did not feel rushed at all.

We eat at CRT quite often for lunch. We have seen cinderella each time we have gone for lunch and even happened on her fairy godmother one afternoon. She is often in the waiting area of the castle, and the lunches are often much less crowded and very easy to get. Good food also. On one occasion we had Cinderella all to ourselves for quite a few min. We normally go for a pretty early lunch. It might be worth a try if you want to eat in the castle, but do not want to have to go through the hassle of trying to get the breakfast. We have our PS for the Storybook breakfast Sept 29th, and our PS for lunch at CRT for the 27th. Both were VERY easy to get.

My DD 4 and 7, especially the 4yo LOVE seeing the princesses but really care less that its at CRT. I personally do not like CRT because it is so rushed and the characters are "shallow" for the most part..Hello princess whats your name..pose for picture ..See ya! Of course the girls don't notice it but Mom does. I am looking forward to this one instead of CRT.

We did both on our recent trip and I have to say that I prefer Cinderella's Castle. I just felt like the setting was much more magical (granted we've eaten here several times and have LOTS of great memories of dining with the princesses). I love the way you enter and see the huge hall with the throne and get to meet one of the characters right away. I also love the winding staircase that takes you up to the restaurant, the table runners on the table, the way they set up the silverware and the blue goblets they serve the drinks in and the way they call you lord and lady (honestly can't remember if they did this at Akershus as well, though). I'm also a little biased as Cinderella is my favorite character. :)

Nothing against the Norway breakfast, it was fine and it remains a good alternative to the castle. The food is very similar at both places, although it is nice here to be able to pick and choose what you want (I also never eat the eggs and they usually just end up sitting there on my plate). We did actually feel a bit more rushed here, but it was a later seating so that may have had something to do with it. It's great to have another place where you can dine with the princesses, I just didn't feel like I was eating in a castle, even though it is clearly a medieval castle. While there I likened it to being more of a peasant cottage than a castle fit for a princess and therin lies the difference in the two, for me at least.

I imagine in the future we'll only do one per trip and we'll keep on trying for Cindy's.

:)

It is nice to hear that Disney has atleast provided an alternative to CRT... where you don't have to knock yourself out to get a reservation. Plus, we are not early risers and we stay at the Beach Club, so Epcot is a much better location for us.

The Norway breakfast is not nearly as easy to get for Nov. as it appears to be now...the Fri after Thanksgiving is booked up. There is still some room the following week though. You may not need to be on the phone exactly 120 days in advance at 7am.....but I'd book this as early as possible. I think it will become more popular as people hear about it.

I would imagine many character meals, as well as non character meals would be booked up the day after Thanksgiving. It is notoriously busy at that time. You shouldn't really have any problems, after Thanksgiving until about a week before Christmas, then it will become more difficult. I don't think it will ever become the nightmare that Cindy's is, though!
