How is the Poly mid to late July-like the pool, etc?

Is the Poly in general major overcrowded this time of the year? I'm concerned about the pool size because we would be coming back to the resort for breaks with the pool and again the pool size for the size of the resort kind of concerns us. We love the theming with the volcano pool and all. We are currently booked at AKL club level/concierge but we are wondering if the MK resorts such as Poly with monorail would be a better choice the time of year we are going in the summer and with it being our very 1st WDW visit. Thanks all for your help I know summer in general is a busy time because that is when alot take summer vacation just like us, but I'm just concerned with the crowds if we would be better off at AKL and it would be more room, less crowded.

Mid to late july is one of the busiest times of the year. Every resort and park are crowded. We were at the Beach Club in June and it was crowded. It was hard to find a chair for DW and I when we went back mid afternoon. You may have better luck with a Deluxe Monorail resort vs a value resort because they tend to be more crowded with kids. I would still expect it to be crowded by the pool during the day.

We stayed at that time last year at the Poly. There are peak times of the day and then there are less popular times of the day. You go when you are ready and your kids probably won't notice. Even at peak times you can usually find at least a chair from a table that no one is using. Often chairs were available around the little water play area too. I really only had one problem one day of a 10 day trip at the Volcano Pool. Keep in mind there is a 2nd pool at the Poly that you can also use - its just not themed.

The AKL pool is larger than the Volcano Pool. It is also a beautiful spot.

I will say that if you have little ones, sometimes the size of the Volcano Pool can be an advantage because its easy to keep an eye on them. You aren't running around the thing as much.
