I am thinking of trying the Hilton Head Resort a try. Could someone tell me what it is like? It would either be a one bedroom or just a studio for 2 or 3 days. Any comments would be appreciated to make my decision easier. This stop will be on my way to FL to do the Cruise..........it breaks up my 15 hour drive by stopping along the way, so why not try here? Thanks in advance.

I am also curious to hear what others will say about Hilton Head. More specifically though, I was wondering how busy it is in late August and what the chances are of getting a one bedroom or studio at the 7 month window. Our stay would also be for about 3 days.

I stayed @ HH last summer for an "overnighter". It is a very nice resort. Studios are in the "Main Building" (for lack of a better term) W/suites in unattached buildings.

It is a pretty small resort, kinda' wedged into the piece of real estate it was built on. It's on the marsh, with the "Beach House" actually about a 5 minute drive away (there are shuttles provided).

I do not remember much about on-site eating, so there must not be any. I think there is a snack bar at the pool, but that's about it. Plenty of eating places within minutes though.

It is a "southern forest" type of atmosphere (my term, not theirs). Lots of shade and pine trees. Nice Pool. A nice pier that extends out over the marsh into the river.

Unfortunately, the day we stayed was the same day that Tropical Storm Barry visited, so the weather was ca-ca, which limited our entertainment options.

As for how busy? I do not know, but we WERE able to change our reservation from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom within just a few days of out visit (we went in June).

If the circumstances are right, we will not hesitate to stay again.

BTW, just be aware it IS about a 30-40 minute trip off of I-95 to get there.

We love HHI, so much so that after 4 trips(1 in april, 2 at xmas week and 1 in the summer) we added on points to get the 11 month window(which is almost essential for june, july and august for sun-thurs). We have also stayed just one night on the way back from WDW to boston. The resort is very relaxing and near great shopping and restaurants, although some of our favorite restaurants are a drive away. Many of the take out places deliver to the resort also. The take-out at the resort is average as is the food at the beach house. The beach is beautiful and the beach house and other pool is a quick ride across the road(they also have a shuttle). The activities at the resort are plentiful for kids and adults. It is our relaxing vacation as opposed to park touring at wdw. We have been there in the summer 3 times and the heat/humidity is there, but we get that up in boston so the beach is worth it. We have a few of our favorite restaurants that we always hit and we usually use the kitchen in the unit for breakfasts, sandwiches for the beach and snacks. We are not going this summer, but will return late speing next year!

HHI is horrible!! Don't stay there.... and definitely don't try for a studio in June 2009.......

Just kidding----I'm actually just trying to keep the competition down for this LOVELY resort!

We just arrived back last night from an incredible week! We stayed in a studio in the main lodge and loved every minute of our trip!! The weather was beautiful, the activities plentiful, the cast members were outstanding and the pools and ocean were fantastic!

Can't say enough about this resort!

We absoutley love it too!! We go there at least 2 times a year. A trip to Disney's HHI is usually all my DS asks for as a birthday in Feb and we make a made 5 hour trip down there. The weather is usually pretty nice then and we just chill out and relax. We were there this past Nov and we enjoyed the pools and activities. We will be going in 3 weeks and this will be our first time there in mid-summer and I am excited to see how crowded it is. We have been there the week before Christmas and they didn't have any vacancies.

Our family decided to try HH this past Easter vacation. We had a 2BR and it was incredible!!!! The resort was very relaxing and the CM's were very friendly. We ate breakfasts in our villa and went out the rest of the time. I think that it would be quite busy during the summer months but for a relaxing vacation any other time, we'd pick HH again with no qualms at all.
