How is the breakfast at Kona Cafe at the Poly?

Hey bamatigger! We're from Alabama too and we love Kona. Just wanted to let you know that you can get grits too at Kona (good ones!). I didn't see them on the menu, might have just missed it. Anyway, we asked the waitress what we could replacde the potatoes with that come with some of the breakfasts and she said grits. Woohoo! Good news for a Southerner. Kona is our favorite breakfast at WDW. Great food and beautiful setting at Poly.

GRITS!!! Yum! My DH will absolutely love that!

Its getting hot in Bama huh?

What is the Press Pot of Coffee?? MY DH is a coffee drinker (he lives at Starbucks). He would love a whole pot of coffee! LOL

The French Press method of making coffee has been around for a long time. I've had a small French press for years. I don't use it often, but it's especially handy if the power goes out and an electric coffee brewing system is not available. Of course you do need to be able to heat the water (gas stove). The French press is also used for some of the herbal teas at the GF's Afternoon Tea.

We always go to the Kona Cafe for Tonga Toast once during each trip. It has become a tradition. Yes, it is sugary and a bit greasy, but that's the nature of the receipe and it's delicious! ;) We've had other selections here as well and everything has been great.

Kona is my favorite spot for breakfast, the food is excellent.

I'd read about Tonga Toast for years and was prepared for a let down (you know when something's had such a great build-up?) well, I just loved, loved, it!

Have to say we shared and would do that again - a full one would be too much. The coffee pot was great too. It's now a 'must do' for me. :)

We love Kona!!

We got there for Tonga Toast, but now the CS at the Poly serves it, so we skipped Kona's last year.

It's delish! Enjoy!!

I love to give praises :worship: to Kona Cafe. It is a must do when we are there. We just found out about trading out the potatoes for the grits, the last time we were at Disney. My family loves the "Big Kahuna". I find the ham and cheese omelet to be really good.:goodvibes Even though we have had ADR most of the time, we have walked up and gotten right in. I certainly hope you enjoy Kona as much as we have.

We split the tonga toast and a fruit plate. That with OJ is plenty of food for breakfast. We're going back again this trip. Love it.

I can't wait to go to Kona! I've never been but those pancakes are calling my name....and I don't even like pancakes! :goodvibes

You aren't kidding! It already feels like August. Ugh!

Be sure to report back on how you like Kona and the Poly in general. Considering staying there next time.

Will do! :thumbsup2 Not much longer! I know it is going to be hot for the 4th, but I would much rather be hot in Disney than hot in Bama! :)
